R&B SUPERSTAR JASON DERULO LIVE AT BLOOMINGDALE’S LENOX SQUARE FOR THE LAUNCH OF HIS COLLECTION LVL XIII

Luxury menswear label LVLXIII (pronounced Level 13), founded by Atlanta native Antonio Brown will launch at Bloomindale’s Lenox Square as part of an exclusive partnership between the label and the retailer.  Investor and brand ambassador Jason Derulo will be on hand at the launch event to introduce the spirit and inspiration for the fall collection. 

Brown and Derulo participate in a panel discussion led by Dennis Malcolm Byron, contributing writer for Men’s Book Atlanta.  The partners will discuss growing a business from scratch and breaking into the luxury fashion business.

LVLXIII was launched exclusively at Bloomingdale’s earlier this year in four doors including New York, LA and Miami.  In addition to key menswear pieces, the line also includes a shoe collection that will be in stores in spring 2018.  The brand, described as streetwear meets luxury, is part of Bloomingdale’s Lab concept which highlights the latest trends in designer streetwear.

PUMA® PARTNERS WITH SELENA GOMEZ

Global sports brand PUMA announced a long-term partnership with singer, actress, and producer Selena Gomez who will work with the brand to design product and create marketing campaigns. Selena will start working with PUMA immediately and will first appear in the brand’s newest campaign for the Phenom, an upcoming women’s footwear drop.

“Being part of the PUMA family is very exciting for me,” said Selena Gomez. “PUMA has changed the game when it comes to the mash-up of athletic wear and fashion. It’s amazing to see this influence on style and culture and I’m excited to be a part of it. I am hoping that we can create something special together. We already have some really cool projects in the works.”

BLOOMINGDALE’S LAUNCHES THE LAB DESIGNER MEN’S STREETWEAR COLLECTIONS WITH LIVE SOCIAL MEDIA STREET STYLE PHOTOSHOOT

Atlanta’s bloggers, influencers and Instagram style stars are invited to Bloomingdale’s Lenox Square on Thursday, October 19th to launch The Lab, a special collection of designer streetwear,  with a street style photoshoot featuring Atlanta’s best street style photographer, Justin Boone.  Boone is known for his candid captures of locals and tourists around Atlanta with an eye for the best in luxury streetwear looks, chronicled on his Instagram page @caughtbyjustin

Guests will be invited to try on pieces from The Lab collections and style their best looks from Lab designers including Pierre Balmain, McQ by Alexander McQueen, Zayn x Versus and others.  Boone will take photos of guests’ style interpretations in his signature candid style which guests can then post on social media using the hashtag #LNXLAB.  Customers will receive a free gift with any purchase over $150.

Bloomingdale’s concept shop, The Lab, launched in select stores around the country to present the most contemporary voices in men’s fashion.  This year’s focus is on street wear and athleisure interpretations from some of the world’s best fashion brands.

Frances de Lourdes -- Ladies in Tees

Frances de Lourdes, a new brand of luxury tees and tanks in ultra soft, lightweight Italian cashmere and silks. The collection, designed and produced in New York City by 36-year-old Alejandra Echeverria, was born out of a desire for a refined classic tee. Echeverria, who notes that the name “Frances de Lourdes” is a reference to her mother and father’s middle names, respectively, was inspired to create an elevated version of her favorite vintage staples - the perfect tee.  

A long time lover, wearer, and collector of tees, Echeverria set out to create a collection of timeless tees that she herself wanted and felt were missing from the market. Calling upon a decade’s worth of experience designing for various New York fashion brands and her education at both Skidmore College and Parsons The New School of Design, New York native Echeverria spent over a year meticulously developing the debut collection of Frances de Lourdes. The collection, which is tightly edited in both color and silhouette, consists of eight (8) timeless luxury tees and tanks made from fine Italian cashmere and silks.

The collection started with the Johnny Tee, which was based on an oversized vintage men’s tee that had shrunken over time to hit the perfect spot on the hip. Often when women wear a men’s tee it can end up looking sloppy, but the shrunken length of the Johnny tee provides the relaxed fit women seek without it feeling overwhelming. With a relaxed, easy fit, round neckline and short sleeves, the Johnny tee is classic and perfectly effortless - a natural addition to the regular rotation in every woman’s closet. The brand’s favorite ultra soft, light weight cashmere and silk Italian jersey (80% cashmere, 20% silk) is the final touch that instantly elevates the silhouette of the Johnny Tee.

Building off the Johnny Tee, Echeverria has created two additional styles with reference to the vintage men’s tee fit. The Frankie Tee - a deep v-neck alternative to the Johnny Tee - is the offering for those who may want the same relaxed feel seen in the Johnny Tee, but with a more revealing neckline. 

The final interpretation of the Johnny Tee is seen in the solitary long-sleeved style within the debut Frances de Lourdes collection, the Marlon Tee. With it’s signature relaxed fit, a round neck and long sleeves, this Italian cashmere and silk-jersey number (retailing at $340.00, the highest price point of the collection) is undoubtedly a staple essential for both summer evenings and winter layering.

[My] Design Session with Kit and Ace

I was invited by Kit and Ace at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta to come in for what they refer to as a "design session." What does that mean? Well, in my case, the design session turned into an impromptu photo shoot, but, the real purpose of a design session is to provide feedback to Kit and Ace on wear, style and functionality. They got an A+ from me on all counts!

The Canadian clothier has experienced acclaim for their "technical cashmere" - a proprietary fabric blend that is low maintenance, machine-washable and the softest textile you will ever touch. Their technical silks are just as soft. Beyond soft actually. 

Another huge, standout quality about Kit and Ace is that they pay as much attention to form as they do to function. I was blown away with the details and special touches in their design. Kit and Ace will take you from office to night in great style (and comfort). They are on trend with every look but also offer classic styles that will carry you from season to season.
