Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet Announces Collaboration with Basquiat Estate for CFDA Initiative

alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet is proud to announce that the late Neo-expressionist artist and frequent Andy Warhol collaborator Jean-Michel Basquiat has been selected, through the Basquiat Estate, as the partner for the second capsule collection that will help support the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s efforts to promote young talent. The collection, shown as part of the alice + olivia Resort 2017 season, will land in stores and online in November 2016.

Jean-Michel Basquiat earned his recognition in the art world before the age of 27, even gaining the title of youngest artist to be given a solo show at the widely respected KestnerGesellschaft gallery in Germany. His personal achievements and participation in an American art movement that ushered in a wave of young new artists make Basquiat the perfect next partner for the promotion of young artists within the fashion industry.

As part of the partnership with the CFDA, alice + olivia works with a new artist each year to create a capsule collection that will be available for purchase at all alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet stores, aliceandolivia.com, and other retail partners with 50% of the proceeds from select items donated to the CFDA.

Stacey Bendet, CEO and Creative Director of alice + olivia, says, “Jean-Michel Basquiat is one of my favorite artists. This partnership is exciting for me as it is very reflective of my brand and our continued collaboration with artists. It is also wonderful to be able to raise funds for the CFDA and support their ongoing initiatives within our industry that develop new talent.”

The new collection includes a variety of unique apparel pieces, accessories and gifts that feature iconic elements of Basquiat’s art, such as the golden crown and colorful, street-art inspired design, mixed with alice + olivia’s whimsical and feminine touch. “Beat Bop” 1983, “Replicas” 1983, “Ascent” 1983, “In Italian” 1983, “Panel of Experts” 1982 and “Notary” 1983 are some of the artist’s famed works that Bendet cites as inspiration for the capsule collection. Elements of these iconic works can be seen throughout the collection of apparel, accessories, and gifts. Bendet delivers a modern interpretation of Basquiat’s iconic artworks with the incorporation of beadwork and embroidery details which add a dimensional element to the iconic Basquiat works as they come to life in the form of dresses, tops, skirts, jackets, handbags, shoes, eyewear and more.

Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA, says, “We could not be more appreciative of Stacey Bendet and her work to help us in our cause to advance up-and-coming fashion talent. Thanks to this initiative, the support we will be receiving from alice + olivia is of great value to our organization.”

For the first CFDA capsule collection, debuted in April 2015, Bendet partnered with celebrated artist Domingo Zapata, a Spanish-American who has studios in New York, Miami, and Hollywood. Zapata’s pieces created for the partnership included a hand-painted ball gown, hand-painted full-length skirt, and custom two-piece skirt with a matching leather bustier featuring piping in a print painted by Zapata, all of which were auctioned off by Paddle8 with 100% of proceeds benefiting the CFDA.

5 Reasons to Love The Shops Buckhead Atlanta

1. Alice and Olivia by Stacey Bendet. 2. Billy Reid. 3. Theory. 4. COS. 5. NARS. And as a bonus, 6. Kit and Ace.

Actually, there are dozens of fabulous reasons to love The Shops Buckhead Atlanta, but last week, the listed six win! The evening started with champagne at Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet where we were gifted the most fragrant votive candles ever. After perusing the ss collection and chatting it up with the A+O staff we strolled to Billy Reid. At Billy Reid we had more champagne while shopping their casual chic selections. The next stop was to Theory. Yes, more champagne. We also got to try on clothes and play dress up on IG. COS offered fancy juices, that was a good thing. They are new to The Shops Buckhead and I strongly urge you to check them out. Their clothing is architectural, sculpted and very chic. At NARS, it was all about make-up, naturally. Oh and back to champagne. The evening ended with the grand opening party at Kit and Ace. The technologically stylish brand opened its doors to a massive crowd. They are sure to be a brand fave on the property.

So, what was all this about? The Shops Buckhead Atlanta hosted a blogger & stylist mixer and took us on a curated tour of the property. So. Much. Fun. WE sipped, shopped and did what we do best: social media.

It's no secret I love The Shops Buckhead Atlanta. After all, they're home to my beloved Doggies on the Catwalk. But aside from that, they carry some of my favorite upscale labels with the friendliest sales people anywhere, they have the best restaurants in the city and the property itself is landscaped to perfection. What's not to love?!

alice + olivia's See-Now-Buy-Now LA Runway debuts Grateful Dead collection, draws Emily Ratajkowski, Kourtney Kardashian

The alice + olivia brand, in partnership with Neiman Marcus, held their first ever See-Now-Buy-Now runway show with music by The Dolls and Ana Calderon. The show, held the Wednesday before Coachella, featured the highly anticipated alice + olivia x Grateful Dead capsule collection paired with limited edition items from the Spring 2016 collection. Twelve exclusive items are now available at  aliceandolivia.com and neimanmarcus.com

“I hope to inspire consumers worldwide to kick off their festival season with alice + olivia,” said Stacey Bendet, “a See-Now-Buy-Now runway show is something I have been wanting to do for a few seasons but it took time to feel out when and where felt right…I wanted what I showed on that runway to be relevant to what consumers actually want to wear, now. I came up with the idea to have the show around Coachella and have the runway looks be based upon things that every girl would want to wear to a music festival.”

"It is exciting to be involved in the forefront of a new fashion phenomenon with Stacey,” said Ken Downing, Senior Vice President and Fashion Director, Neiman Marcus. “She has always been wildly intuitive, with the ability to anticipate her fashionable customers’ wants and desires. Creating a highly curated, creative, clever, and in-season fashion show, as only Stacey can do, with a Buy-Now-Wear-Now mantra, makes sense for her fashion followers that love and adore what she designs!”

Ken Downing, Senior Vice President and Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus with Stacey Bendet, CEO and Creative Director of alice + olivia at the alice + olivia Fall 2016 presentation during New York Fashion Week.

alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet is pleased to announce that the brand, in partnership with Neiman Marcus, will hold their first ever See-Now-Buy-Now runway show on Wednesday, April 13 at NeueHouse Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. The show, held the Wednesday before Coachella, will feature the highly anticipated alice + olivia x Grateful Dead capsule collection paired with limited edition items from the Spring 2016 collection. Twelve exclusive items will be available at www.aliceandolivia.com and www.neimanmarcus.com.

Ken Downing, Senior Vice President and Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus, will co-style the runway show with Stacey Bendet, CEO and Creative Director of alice + olivia. The runway show will be streamed live from Los Angeles on both alice + olivia’s and Neiman Marcus’ social channels, including Periscope and Facebook Live.

The official announcement of Bendet’s foray into the See-Now-Buy-Now runway follows on the heels of the CFDA’s release of the results of the Boston Consulting Group’s study of the future of New York Fashion Week on its website, www.CFDA.com, earlier this year.

"It is exciting to be involved in the forefront of a new fashion phenomenon with Stacey,” said Ken Downing.

As alice + olivia embarks on the journey to modernizing their brand to match the consumer needs with a festival-themed See-Now-Buy-Now runway show in Los Angeles immediately prior to the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music Festival, the brand embodies the CFDA’s call out of the study, “that deliveries must better match the actual, physical season and our consumers’ behaviors and needs.”

“I hope to inspire consumers worldwide to kick off their festival season with alice + olivia,” said Bendet, “a See- Now-Buy-Now runway show is something I have been wanting to do for a few seasons but it took time to feel out when and where felt right...I wanted what I showed on that runway to be relevant to what consumers actually want to wear, now. I came up with the idea to have the show around Coachella and have the runway looks be based upon things that every girl would want to wear to a music festival.”
