Matthew Miller Fall 2018 Menswear

Matthew Miller menswear 2018

“There’s this underground music scene, really good 19, 20, 21-year-olds, who can’t afford gigs, but they can really play—and they have something to say. There was a long time when music didn’t have that, but now it’s back. And I wanted to give them a chance.”

Men's Book Style Setters "Men of Style"

And here it is... Modern Luxury has chosen five dapper gentlemen as their 2017 Style Setters featured in the Fall issue of Men's Book. I am honored and thrilled to be among the Men of Style along with Todd Hoyles, Leron Rogers, Drew Brown and Dennis Dean. Very stylish company.

The photo shoot was a blast! Shot at a swanky penthouse at The Sovereign by Patrick Heagney, he and Stephanie Davis Smith of Modern Luxury had me doing all sorts of wild poses - all in the name of fashion and editorials.

I want to give a huge thank you to Jeffrey McQuithy at Vis-A-Vis The Salon for my hair and grooming and another huge thanks to Jeffrey Atlanta's Men's Store. I'm wearing a Gucci suit with a Dior shirt in both shots but switched out the Gucci sneakers in the Table of Contents photo for a Maison Margiela lowtop paint-splatter sneaker in the other shot. Notice the Fendi Monster eyes peekaboo bag in both shots - a #MUSTHAVE!

You can see my spread and the other dapper dudes in the current issue of Men's Book, HERE!

Styling the OOTD for NYFW 2017

Looking effortless takes effort. Don't ever let a stylist, wardrobe specialist or fashion blogger tell you otherwise. As I created my outfit of the day (OOTD) looks for NYFW, I was going for a cool, I don't care too much attitude. Guess what? I found myself caring too much! That's when the "e" word came into play - EDIT. I wanted to sport a street-style vibe but the dapper gentlemen inside kept fighting me... are you sure you don't want a blazer with that? How about a dress shoe...?

When I felt I was getting too fussy with my looks, I'd take a step back and EDIT. Taking the New York city cold temps into account, I asked myself, how can I dress warmly, comfortably yet still look stylish. I then began pulling from my closet. First, the trousers: blue denim jeans from Uniqlo, black jeans by Helmut Lang, black cropped slacks from Kit & Ace and lastly, heavy wool pants with a camo pattern by Mark McNairy. For my tops I went the sweatshirt route: Gap and Todd Snyder. To "dress them up" try wearing a collared shirt underneath. Then it was time for footwear. I'm packing mostly sneakers: a pair by Vans - pictured above, super cool kicks from Nike and to step it up, the Will Chukka boot by FRYE.

Now that I have my wardrobe foundation set, I had to consider accessories, including outwear. I packed two jackets. One with a fur-trimmed hoodie and the other, a brown-bronzed puffer. Scarves and gloves also made their way into my luggage. And finally, some kind of bag is an essential. (See photo above.) In it, you can carry items like cell phone chargers, water, NYFW runway materials, programs, etc... Oh, and one last thing I packed - an umbrella. That too can go in my bag and hopefully stay there!

None of this was "hard." But just like most things in life, it took some thought and planning. Make sure to follow me on Instagram (@fashionado) for all things NYFW!!!

The Super Cool Style of JJ Suspenders

Suspenders are one of the coolest men's accessories out there and yet not so many men wear them. Let's change that! Allow me to introduce you to JJ Suspenders - the greatest brand I've found on the market. The owner's of JJ Suspenders decided to start their own company of producing quality, hand-crafted suspenders after looking and looking for them in stores and online and not finding what they desired - I can totally relate to that! (In the photo above) I'm wearing JJ Suspenders in leather. These are sharp. Badass! I paired them up with a lavender Brooks Brothers shirt and Uniqlo jeans and I was good to go! The leather suspenders are adjustable through their handsome brass buckles and I've got to tell ya, the clip-on construction  is very solid. I wore them all day. They provided that little extra oomph to my look.

Solids, stripes and patterns in a variety of widths, clips and buttons. These designer suspenders will help you rock a look or dress you up. Either way, it's a fashion win-win. You really need to check out the entire collection of JJ Suspenders because there is something there for every man, every look, every day!

Layering Fall Fashion OOTD

Fall Fashion
Fall Fashion

Photos: Tomas Espinoza Photography

Fall may not officially be here yet but it's not too early to plan for the season. Fall is my favorite time of year for fashion and personal style. I'm able to comfortably wear layers of clothing in Hotlanta without breaking a sweat.

While I'm not excessively layered here, I am in heavier fabrics - a no-can-do in the Summer. [Just] throw on a vest or v-neck sweater, in a bright color preferably, as the weather cools. Sport a handsome pair of boots like these cap toes from Asos and you'll be good to go!

Blazer, Jack Spade. Shirt & pocket square, Ralph Lauren. Jeans, Uniqlo.
