Robert Geller Fall 2016 Menswear

[I see] an 80's vibe in Robert Geller's Fall 2016 menswear collection - think 80's dressy with the silhouette of [some] of the trousers and in the cut of the short waisted jackets. BUT this is not what this collection is about. Robert Geller was inspired by a book from his childhood, The Grey Gentlemen, that featured mysterious men in gray suits and Geller used this as a point of departure for creativity this season. I know I always look mysterious when I cock my derby hat and sport leather half gloves. And speaking of accessories, the studded briefcases are a must-have! Interestingly enough, there really weren't many suits in the collection. Geller used book's story as in influence and not so referential. Geller gave us his interpretation through modern, fashion-forward looks. The coats are incredible, the fit, the style... Also, and to my surprise, the drawstring jumpsuit in the collection is pretty badass. I'm not a fan of jumpsuits, but this one is styled to perfection. The looks change a bit towards the end of the show as Geller's "character" evolves and embraces rich earth tones, velvets and satins.

Engineered Garments Fall 2016 Menswear

Daiki Suzuki of Engineered Garments continues to cast silver foxes and I love him for that! And a whole lot more (look at this amazing collection!). Suzuki gives us sartorial and styling excellence. The pride in this body of work comes in the quality of the textiles and the impeccable tailoring throughout. If God or the Devil is in the details, Suzuki found both.

Seriously, take your time and study the collection. It's so involved and well planned. Considered. Handled with thought... there is so much layering. So many handsome pieces; vests, blazers, jackets, ponchos, slacks, suits, shoes. Engineered Garments presents a very evolved and developed way of dressing men. They're setting standards, over trends. Providing concepts and ideas to be interpreted and internalized. Look and learn gentlemen. This. Is. Fashion.

Opening Ceremony Fall 2016 Menswear

These days, there's a fine line between activewear and sportswear. Opening Ceremony have taken that notion and run with it for Fall 2016 menswear. This collection features the best of both by showcasing velour track pants, for instance, paired with knit jackets and dress shows, or a trench coat with combat boots. Opening Ceremony played with looks, garments and textile choices to create and produce a collection that is not only fun, but multi-purposeful. The bomber jackets are reversible and sweaters zip away to create a different silhouette. Smart, colorful and I'm ready to sport some Opening Ceremony!

Michael Bastian Menswear Spring 2016 #NYFWM

Michael Bastian was inspired by the lifestyle and entitlement of Bel-Air and while I see some of the references in the collection, what is really calling my attention is the oh-so-dapper navy plaid double-breasted suit. And the super hip banana-leaf came pants. And Bastian's bold sense of styling. And let's not forget the cashmere cardigans. The best part is that you don't have to live in Bel-Air to look this damn good. Then again, I could embrace a lifestyle in Bel-Air...

THEORY Menswear Spring 2016

Androgyny is the new black... and tan, navy and gray. Theory blew us away with their menswear collection for NYFWM. There's little to no middle ground for me in fashion. I'm either loud and colorful or embracing simplicity and sophistication. At the moment it's the latter. Theory presented a collection that is smart, classic and modern at the same time. Ben Stubbington, Theory's menswear designer, created clothing that people want to wear. Well-tailored, fitted. I'll take everything!
