 MIRROR OF THE SOUL, FROM THE SHADOW TO THE LIGHT (CHIAROSCURO)

There is magic and mystery in a mirror : the reflection of who looks into it is real, but reversed. We can see who we are, but always from the same point of view: face to face and reversed, with our own defects. It reflects a sort of fixed image of us, while at the same time truncated yet perfect, as another face of reality. Since we gaze at ourselves, all fantasies become possible and brings us back to face each other, and to what the world has to face.

Sometimes it's a symbol of a door to a different world in literature or beliefs, sometimes a magic tool or holly in a lot of religions, the mirror is a paradox, considered as a perfect restitution of the truth as an imaginary distortion. Thus the reflection from the mirror may make us see either the shadow or the light in ourselves, in our world, the chiaroscuro, the white or the black, the wisdom or the perversion. And as a two-way mirror, you can see without being seen. Step through and find out with this collection, and the part of your soul using your imagination, whether it is dark or radiant…

The fall winter collection of the ABE by Ariane Chaumeil house, whose crafting remains done with the blowtorch glass, becomes richer with a new proposition: the metal paste making. Sculpted and cast, the metal paste is modeled, sanded, fired at high temperatures, brushed and rubbed with a burnisher and polished several times in order to get pieces of golden and white bronze, and of pure copper, with a shiny, ancient rendering.

DYLANLEX Summer 2016 Statement Jewelry Collection

DYLANLEX Summer 2016 Collection just hit the internet. All those Kendall Jenner neck moments (see images below) just became shop-able - finally!

The DYLANLEX Summer 2016 collection contains six statement necklaces, three head-turning ear-knockers, two arm-candy wrist moments, and a handful of rings... including the new "Bey" ring, named in honor of Beyonce  - the singer was seen dripping in DYLANLEX jewels throughout her Formation video. 

The brand's signature statement necklace, the Falkor, seen on the likes of Beyonce, Rihanna, and Kendall Jenner, returns for Summer 2016 with (yet another) seasonal update in the form of the DYLANLEX Falkor VI.  

DYLANLEX cites Frank Lloyd Wrights' Falling Water House as inspiration for the fifteen styles that rolled out for Summer 2016 today; DYLANLEX Designer and Creative Director Drew Ginsberg says "he use of antiqued metals throughout my new DYLANLEX collection are meant to echo the layers of structural and textural shapes seen throughout the Falling Water House."

"The dramatic effect of the waterfall at the iconic home," nsburg says, " have tried to represent in cascading lines, most notably in the new DYLANLEX Hancock (necklace) and Pierce (earring) styles."

Just say YES to Statement Necklaces

From Hot to Cold: Colorful Winter Accessories

As the weather gets cooler, closets go darker. In the past, broody hues have been winter appropriate, but lately we’ve seen a surge of bold, bright colors including red, cobalt and metallics.

Lucky for us, with these colors in style, it’s easy to do a closet update that will take your accessories through the seasons with ease.

Shoes

Shoes are such an

easy

way to take a baby step toward lightening up this winter.

Metallics are a form of neutral in that they go with any outfit, but still bring attention down to your toes.

Pointy toe metallic pumps like the ones offered by Sam and Libby will take you from office lunch to holiday party without a trip back home. Both the heel and flat options offer a stylish punch, so choose whichever style makes you feel more comfortable. Metallics, bolds and neons are all fair game, and you can find tons of affordable womens shoes online that fit the bill.

Like shoes, handbags are another easy way to add a pop of color without going over the top. When choosing a colored bag, remember to pick something that will coordinate with other pieces in your wardrobe. If you wear a lot of red, a Kelly green bag probably isn’t the best choice post-holiday season.

However, red coordinates great with many yellows and gem tones like purple.

Taking a mental inventory of your closet before going shopping will help immensely in choosing the right bag.

It’s amazing how much a scarf can change a look. Even if you’re wearing a dark, monotone outfit, throw on a scarf and you'll look put together, festive and fun. Don’t be afraid of bright colors and out-there prints. Because a scarf is smaller and less bold than a pair of pants, try to push yourself for a something out of your comfort zone, like an intricately designed aztec print. For special occasions, match up your scarf with your metallic shoes. Pashminas and even ponchos have come back this winter and are a great way to add a pop to your outfit or dress up a pair of leggings while keeping warm.

Jewelry is another great way to make a statement and can be super affordable. Add color to your wardrobe or refresh an outfit you’ve been wearing all fall with a statement gold bangle or jeweled necklace. Mantra and idiom pieces are especially popular, like this Kate Spade 'find the silver lining' bangle. Another great trend that’s in for winter is large earrings. Colorful and sparkly, a pair can make a plain back dress party ready in a snap. Aldo has a ton of trendy jewelry that is budget-friendly.
