OSCAR 2013 Red Carpet Fashion: Best & Worst
/[caption id="attachment_19724" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Jennifer Lawrence. Dior"]

The girl became a woman in this stunning Dior...
Jennifer Lawrence
killed it last night on every level. I loved the dress, the hair and necklace. And for those of you who thought this was too much dress...
please!
She took home the top honor. The biggest prize... Jennifer can wear anything she likes.
[caption id="attachment_19725" align="aligncenter" width="430" caption="Naomi Watts. Armani Prive"]
[/caption]
Naomi Watts is radiant in this dress. She took a risk with this edgy Armani and it paid off.
[caption id="attachment_19726" align="aligncenter" width="430" caption="Jessica Chastain. Armani Prive"]
[/caption]
I still see Jessica Rabbit, but thats not a bad thing. Jessica Chastain looks like a glamorous movie star. Oh, wait... she is!
[caption id="attachment_19727" align="aligncenter" width="430" caption="Halle Berry. Versace"]
[/caption]
Halle Berry redeemed herself in my eyes from the last Versace disaster she sported in the Golden Globes. This dress is amazing. The only thing I wish she'd do different is the hair. I would like to see something chic and structured. Not so wild.
[caption id="attachment_19728" align="aligncenter" width="427" caption="Daniel Day Lewis. Domenico Vacca"]
[/caption]
Sharp and debonair. He's distinguished yet modern in this blue tuxedo. Congratulations on the Oscar win Daniel Day Lewis.
[caption id="attachment_19729" align="aligncenter" width="430" caption="Charlize Theron. Dior"]
[/caption]
The Dior is gorgeous but it's Charlize Theron's overall beauty that I am dying over! OMG, she is so amazingly beautiful. I'm obsessed.
[caption id="attachment_19730" align="aligncenter" width="321" caption="Bradley Cooper. Tom Ford"]
[/caption]
This photo is pint sized, just like Bradley Cooper's mother. He is dashing in Tom Ford. The hair was a little too slick for me, but not enough to make me not like.
[caption id="attachment_19731" align="aligncenter" width="430" caption="Amanda Seyfried. Alexander McQueen"]
[/caption]
Amanda Seyfried seems to be having fun. She looks a tiny bit washed out in the dress.
[caption id="attachment_19732" align="aligncenter" width="430" caption="Helen Hunt. H&M"]
[/caption]
Great for Helen Hunt for wearing H&M! Just remember, you get what you pay for.
[caption id="attachment_19733" align="aligncenter" width="430" caption="Jane Fonda. Versace"]
[/caption]
I give Jane Fonda props for having a banging bod and a great plastic surgeon. Now if she would only do something with that hair!
[caption id="attachment_19734" align="aligncenter" width="430" caption="Nicole Kidman. L'Wren Scott"]
[/caption]
What is going on with Nicole Kidman? She's lost her red carpet mojo. I like the dress, I hate the hair. She can do better. Remember the red halter gown with the oversized bow? I want that Nicole to come back.
[caption id="attachment_19735" align="aligncenter" width="430" caption="Salma Hayek. Alexander McQueen"]
[/caption]
Salma darling, you just killed McQueen again. Are you still channelling Frida Kalo and replaced the back brace with a blingy neck brace? And what's that on your head? Call me, we can do better next time. xo
[caption id="attachment_19736" align="aligncenter" width="430" caption="Helena Bonham Carter. Vivienne Westwood"]
[/caption]
Train wreck.
[caption id="attachment_19737" align="aligncenter" width="430" caption="Melissa McCarthy. David Meister"]
[/caption]
If Wonder Woman swallowed Adele she would look like Melissa McCarthy.

Best & Worst Dressed Golden Globes 2013
/[caption id="attachment_18857" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Julianne Moore in Tom Ford."]
[/caption]
My best dressed ladies on the red carpet are those who know how to work a gown, how to style their hair, wear their make-up and accessorize with confidence. Of course, there's always room for improvement as you shall see... MY pick for best dressed is 52 year old
Julianne Moore
. She embodies, fashion, style and sophistication. She was totally on trend with her black & white Tom Ford gown. Julianne knows how to wear a dress; the dress does not wear her. Younger starlets can learn a lot from watching Julianne Moore. Flawless.
[caption id="attachment_18860" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Kate Hudson; Alexander McQueen"]
[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_18861" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Jennifer Lopez; Zuhair Murad"]
[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_18862" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Anne Hathaway; Chanel"]
[/caption]
Just look at that pose... a true A list celebrity... I hope Anne keeps her hair short for a little while!
[caption id="attachment_18863" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Amy Adams; Marchesa"]
[/caption]
Amy Adams looks beautiful and glamorous though the gown washes her out and I wish she had worn large earrings. It would have better balanced the silhouette.
[caption id="attachment_18864" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Naomi Watts; Zac Posen"]
[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_18866" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Nicole Kidman; Alexander McQueen"]
[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_18867" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Lucy Lui; Carolina Herrera"]
[/caption]
Lucy Lui is so gorgeous in this Carolina Herrera gown. The dress is pristine while Lucy's hair not as perfect making the entire look fresh and modern.
[caption id="attachment_18868" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Kerry Washington; Miu Miu"]
[/caption]
Adele; Burberry
I just adore Adele. Love her signing, love her speaking and love her style. The only suggestion I'll make is to consider a modern hairstyle.
Borderline Best/WORST
[caption id="attachment_18874" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Nicole Richie; Naeem Khan"]
[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_18875" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Eva Longoria; Emilio Pucci"]
[/caption]
LOVE the dress but really Robert Verdi (Eva's stylist) did you make her stick the leg out like that? It ruined it for me... Did anyone notice her walking down the carpet? Eva looked like a baby ostrich. It was very distracting. Not crazy about the hairstyle either. Seems like I've seen it, a lot.
[caption id="attachment_18876" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Amanda Seyfried; Givenchy"]
[/caption]
Beautiful chic Givenchy, wrong color on Amanda!
[caption id="attachment_18877" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Jessica Alba; Oscar de la Renta"]
[/caption]
Jessica needs to lose the necklace and take notes from Julianna Moore on how to wear a gown... It's wearing her.
[caption id="attachment_18878" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Jennifer Lawrence; Dior"]
[/caption]
Jennifer Lawrence does not deserve to wear this dress. She said to Ryan Seacrest, "I am wearing Dior Haute Couture. I don't know what "haute" means but I was supposed to say it." Clearly Jennifer is more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal. The Dior had fit issues as well making her side profile weird looking around the cup area.
[caption id="attachment_18879" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Zooey Deschanel; Oscar de la Renta"]
[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_18880" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Julianne Hough; Monique Lhuillier"]
[/caption]
Julianne Hough wore her prom dress to the Golden Globes. How cute.
[caption id="attachment_18881" align="aligncenter" width="420" caption="Lena Dunham; Zac Posen"]
[/caption]
I nearly died when I learned this was a Zac Posen. Only Lena could make such a sophisticated gown look like some horrible Sherry Hill pageant dress. Lena, also had difficulty walking. She obviously couldn't work her heels. As for her HBO show Girls... I love it. I love her too actually! But I doubt she make any "best dressed" lists anywhere anytime...
[caption id="attachment_18882" align="aligncenter" width="420" caption="Olivia Munn; Giorgio Armani"]
[/caption]
The necklace is in violation of this look. Its all wrong. The bodice has no structure because of the oversized beading which did no favors to her figure. The hair didn't work. Again, you must always take everything into account. If you are dead set on wearing a particular dress, then the hair, shoes and jewelry MUST complement it.
[caption id="attachment_18883" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Jessica Chastain; Calvin Klein"]
[/caption]
The combination of the ill-fitted, sagging dress and the boring as heck hairstyle is a big, sad fail for Jessica Chastain. The dress is too long, btw.
[caption id="attachment_18884" align="aligncenter" width="478" caption="Halle Berry; Versace"]
[/caption]
It kills me to pronounce Halle Berry as MY worst dress pick, but she has gone rogue on good fashion! What is this?! Donatella Versace must have an expression of horror on her face, if she could move it. Was Halle coming from a movie set where she played a warrior princess?? And then, there's the awful leg trend that Angelina started. Halle Berry owes us big time at the next major awards show!!!
BTW, here is what the dress looked like on the Versace runway:
Fashion's Night Out - NYC
/Unreal!
If I had to describe FNONY in just one word it would be, unreal. Last night was a celebration of the good, the tragic and the OMG-WTF are you wearing, as fashion victims of all kinds took over the streets of Manhattan in honor of the biggest fashion night of the year, in it's birthplace of NYC. You should be proud of me Atlanta because [apparently] I represented our city right. I was photographed by four different media types for their publications while I was out and about. My vintage bowtie - metallic shoe combo turned heads, I guess!
So, what was FNO like in NY? I called it unreal, but why??
The energy and excitement in the air. The masses of people flocking stores. The long lines to enter designer showrooms looked like the lines you'd make at Disney. All this made it seem unreal. AND fabulous!
I wasn't alone. My friend of twenty-six years, Jeff, was with me. We started our evening in the Meatpacking District because
Alexander McQueen
was on the top of our list. It took us about fifteen minutes to get inside and that was lucky for us because not much later, the line went down for several blocks!
Guests were invited to enter a room where the walls were filled with these hot pink cards, McQueen called it their "Wonderwall." On the back of the cards was a a gift item for about nine lucky winners. The rest of us got a whopping 10% off any item in the store.
Pop-up tents like this were common throughout. Loads of FNOers were getting hair / make-up, etc...
We missed out at
DVF
. There was no line when we got there but were distracted by Jeffrey across the street. When we came back outside, a clusterfuck style line had formed to get inside of DVF. We said, "no way!"
It was great to finally visit Jeffrey NY. It's at least 3X or more the size of the Atlanta location and they carry menswear!
After Jeffrey, we were done with the Meatpacking District and headed uptown to check out that scene. Jeff and I wandered into
Saks
to say hello to a friend who was working. Saks was insane. All of uptown, neighborhood to so many fabulous designer showrooms, was totally insane. As much as we loved FNO, it is fair to say that we were overwhelmed [but ready for it again next year!].
