"Running For Our Lives" - Newly Released Hit for Dance Floors Everywhere

As summer is approaching full swing, Sarah Charness, Kat Nestel and Disco Killerz have teamed up to release their new song “Running For Our Lives”, an up-beat dance track that will uplift any party. Disco Killerz and Sarah Charness have previously worked on "We Came to Party" and "Grip" before deciding to partner with KATT, the vocalist on their new track. Sarah and Disco Killerz fell in love with her voice the moment they heard her sing, and decided to work together on this feel good track.

This song will be an anthem for Summer ’16: Kat’s soulful vocals bring the words to life, and Sarah’s electric violin adds a vibrant layer to Disco Killerz stellar production.

Anamanaguchi & virtual pop star Hatsune Miku pioneer the future of Pop Music

hatsune mike anamanaguchi

The shape of pop creation is currently shifting. Instead of an elite team of specialists grooming a child through adolescence for a public audience, inventive artists with computers can make themselves, their friends, or a stranger off the street into hyperrealmanifestations that go even further. This phenomenon is showcased best via New York City band Anamanaguchi’s collaboration with Japanese virtual star Hatsune Miku on her crossover pop track “Miku.”

Portrayed as a 16-year-old girl with long, turquoise pigtails, Hatsune Miku is voiced by a singing synthesizer application calledVocaloid. Despite not being a ‘real person’, she is selling out arena concerts worldwide and her vocaloid software has allowed 100,000+ songs to be made using her voice. Miku’s countless endorsement deals, including her own Super GT racing team and modeling partnership with Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci, would certainly be the envy of any ‘real’ pop star.

hatsune miku

Anamanaguchi is a digital pop group featuring the warped productions and hyperactive melodies of songwriters Peter Berkman,Ary Warnaar, and Luke Silas, playing under custom-fabricated lights made by bassist James DeVito (who most recently designed LED outfits for Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour). They are a team of playful DIY internet anarchists whose colorful iconoclasm comes with a heavy sense of humor and a seriousness about having fun. When they’re not busy touring, Berkman and Warnaaralongside Web Master Neil Cline have been heading hypermedia titan NHX on internet music releases such as: ⒶⓃⒶⓇⒸⒽⓎ,Capsule Silence XXIVMaxo’s Chordslayer EP, and many more.

The track they have collaborated on tells the story Miku becoming self-aware - a transhuman singularity spurred by the pop star’s desire for independence and agency. Lyrically, the song is about the how Miku is seen and what she's capable of - a personal anthem of sorts. She sings both about how she's grateful of what she's become, and how she owes it to the support of the communities around her, as well as her understanding that she was initially created as a tool - a continuous facade for her users remote fascinations.

The mechanics behind working with a virtual artist usher in a new method of creating pop music. Anamanaguchi started the track in a grimy art-squat basement in chinatown NYC and finished it in a state-of-the-art recording studio in Shibuya, Tokyo. And whileMiku may not have physically been in the booth with them, weekly skype meetings with her and her team (Crypton Future Media) kept her very involved in the process.

The release of “Miku” comes at the peak of Hatsune Miku and Anamanaguchi’s joint Miku Expo 2016 North American Tour whichfeatured the virtual star’s first live performances alongside an American band. Hatsune Miku appears on stage to her devoted fans as a projection, while the band support her with live instrumentation. Although anyone can use the software, performing their song together marks Miku’s live inaugural collaboration with an American artist. Anamanaguchi’s involvement in this extraordinary partnership goes quite past song production, extending even to choreography direction in Miku’s live performance.

ETC!ETC! & TIGHTTRAXX Drop Turn-Up Anthem “Trompa” In Time For Festival Season

“A long established favorite of the bass favoring masses, ETC!ETC! has fast become one of North America’s most promising trap and moombahton jugglers”

ETC!ETC! & TIGHTTRAXX Drop Turn-Up Anthem Trompa In Time For Festival Season

If you thought ETC!ETC! would slow down even for a moment, you played yourself. The LA-based beatsmith links with fellow Angeleno TIGHTTRAXX for the rattling turn-up tune “Trompa.” The producing twosome take the track from electro to trap and back again, pummeling the beat with a double-time drumroll and serpentine horn line. Already being supported by Skrillex, Jack Ü and Flosstradamus, the track is moving crowds left and right. Check out the tune going off during ETC!ETC!’s Coachella set here.

“Trompa” marks the latest in a long string of collaborations between ETC!ETC! and TIGHTTRAXX. A sought after pairing, Valentino Khan recruited the producers for an official remix of his game-changing record “Deep Down Low.” They’ve also linked for bootlegs of Yellow Claw’s “DJ Turn It Up” and The Chainsmokers’ “Kanye,” and raised the production bar with originals like “Jungla,” and “All Over Di World.”

ETC!ETC! arrives fresh off a massive 2015. Following appearances at TomorrowWorld, Beyond Wonderland, EDC Las Vegas, and Mad Decent Boat Party, he delivered his highly anticipated EP Wicked to critical acclaim. Across six highly diversified tracks that saw collaborations with Fatman Scoop, Sanjin, and Hawkeye, the project was ETC!ETC!’s most multi-faceted to date, earning support from ComplexDancing AstronautYour EDM and more.

Alex Sardo honed his craft for years ahead of debuting the TIGHTTRAXX alias. Before his solo stint, he was one half of the duo DSKOTEK, who scored stage time at EDC Las Vegas and Nocturnal Wonderland after winning Insomniac's first ever Discovery Project in 2012. When he emerged as a producer in his own right, TIGHTTRAXX began creating exactly that: tracks so tight they caught the attention of upper echelon artists like Diplo and Borgore.

Party Thieves “Undrafted” EP out now on Flosstradamus’ Hi Def Youth Label

party thieves undrafted ep fashionado

Party Thieves kicks off legendary trap duo Flosstradamus’ new label, Hi Def Youth, with today’s release of “Undrafted” EP. The EP includes four songs consisting of three heavy-hitting bangers and an intro dedicated to his nephew Jon. The prelude, “For Jon,” puts the New York-based producer’s emotions on display with drawn out piano chords that evoke a sense of melancholy. “Death Row” hits hard with an ominous lead, accented by delicate snare patters and a frenetic apex of synth stabs and shuffling vocal chops. “#ZOOTED” brings a slow-churning, trapped-out beat topped with steamy samples, while the EP’s most raucous offering “BADD’” closes things out with percussion-fueled drops and a militant-style drum-kick progression.

Flosstradamus just celebrated their second annual, sold out HDY [Hoodie] Fest at Colorado’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre on 4/20. At the show the duo debuted their new production that consists of a 40ft x 15ft bunker equipped with an LED screen, t-shirt machine gun, satellite tower, and DJ booth. This summer, Flosstradamus will perform at some of the biggest festivals including Bonnaroo, Panorama, Lollapalooza and Mad Decent Block Party, to name a few. They will also continue their popularFlossvegas residency in Las Vegas at Surrender Nightclub and Encore Beach Club.

At the last TomorrowWorld, I had the pleasure of sitting with MaRLo about an hour before his live set. This year, Michael Beas of RaverMagazine.com got a chance to do the same while MaRLo was performing at Ultra Music Miami. The scene was a little chaotic in MaRLo's South Beach hotel room and superstar Andrew Rayel even photo-bombs the interview!
