Ookay & YDG Invite You To "Pop It Off"

Ookay YDG pop it off

Somehow between dropping a Rihanna remix, prepping for a cross-country tour with Datsik and revamping his Instagram aesthetic, Ookay has made time to link with emergent duo YDG and deliver the ominous trap record “Pop It Off.” Catalyzing with a melodic soundscape, the production threesome rev up the energy with industrial synth play and echoey vocals before ejecting to a booming drop.

First teased on Valentino Khan’s HARD DOTD Mixtape, “Pop It Off” arrives on the heels of YDG’s massive collaboration with Fawks, “Hold Up.” Last month on his BBC Radio 1 show, Pete Tong bestowed on the young producers the honor of naming the track his Essential New Tune – an insane look for the newly minted duo. This catapulted YDG to the spotlight and gave the boys a proper platform to showcase their multifaceted production style, which blends hard-hitting beats with melodic soundscapes to seamless effect. The song builds off the success from their Shawn Wasabi and YUNG GEMMYcollaboration “Burnt Rice,” which quickly went viral and has so far racked 2.5 million plays on YouTube.

Ookay’s now been running the trap game for a few years, after boasting early co-signs from some of the industries most well respected – Diplo, Steve Aoki, A-Trak, Borgore and Showtek, among others. His Dim Mak debut single “Egg Drop Soup” first showcased the producer’s undeniable talent, becoming an instant sensation and surpassing half a million SoundCloud plays. Fast forward to his most recent dancehall monster with the legendary Ragga Twins, “The Boot,” which copped the #5 spot on Beatport’s Hip Hop chart, attesting to the notion that his pace is far from wavering. In addition to his original hits, Ookay is churning out remixes (“Hotline Bling”, “Lean On”, “Runaway (U & I)”) that are setting the Internet on fire. Catch him on the road this spring, as he joins Datsik on the Spring Loaded Tour.

Delta Heavy to release incredible debut album 'Paradise Lost' on Ram Records

delta heavy paradise lost

Five years after bursting onto the scene, Delta Heavy unveil their eagerly awaited debut album, ‘Paradise Lost’, due for release on March 18th on Ram Records.  One of the few acts whose sound effortlessly straddles the Atlantic, the duo’s multi-dimensional versatility is evident throughout their inaugural LP.

2015 saw the release of singles ‘Ghost’ and ‘Punish My Love’, accompanied by their notoriously idiosyncratic animated music videos, the former of which was nominated for three awards including ‘One Of a Kind’ in Vevo’s Year In Music.  This year sees an extensive world tour, and this 14-track opus is the perfect lead up, tying in all aspects of drum and bass, cinematic soundscapes and space-age house.

The album opens with the dystopian title track, an orchestral flurry of strings that dissolve into a grinding, half time war much that resembles Gesaffelstein on acid. “Event Horizon’, ‘Pathways’ and upcoming club single ‘Oscillator’ see the duo in more familiar territory, complex and thundering sci-fi dancefloor drum and bass; whilst ‘City of Dreams’ and ‘Cut Me’ demonstrate a lighter, more melodic touch. Soaring top lines link the epic singles ‘Ghost’, ‘White Flag’ and ‘Reborn’ whilst ‘Conquer The Galaxy’ takes future house into the cosmos.

Underpinned by meticulous production and presented as a seamless composition, ‘Paradise Lost’ represents a benchmark in the Delta Heavy journey.

Kaskade & CID "Us" (The Geek x VRV Remix)

kaskade us cid

Kaskade and Grammy award winning producer CID unveil an official remix bundle today for their collaborative record “Us”, including a smooth remix from The Geek x VRV. The Parisian duo add a new dimension to the original track, steering it in a different direction with their style of soulful electronica.

The Geek x VRV's sound is reminiscent of Flume, but with a larger focus on funk, hip-hop & soul. Their resume includes downtempo, melodic anthems, bass driven crowd-pleasers and numerous remixes highlighted by an official rework of Odesza’s hit single Say My Name.

The remix comes at a perfect time, as The Geek x VRV prepare to release their new “Origami” EP on GRiZ’s All Good Records next month.  Axel Rondeau (The Geek) and Vincent Teoule (VRV) have also been working away at distinguishing their brand through live performance spectacles, typically featuring horns, synthesizers, keyboards & more.  The duo have etched their name within the burgeoning Parisian scene - which includes highly respected acts such as Point Point, FKJ & more - ready to make their major North American festival debut this summer.

All Good Records, the Detroit-based imprint founded by GRiZ, proudly embraces its soulful, funk-filled roots. The collective label as a whole strives to bring something new to the table - whether it’s bringing aboard smooth hydro-funk via SunSquabi or an onslaught of remixers ranging from Soulection affiliate Louie Lastic to bass house star NGHTMRE - these efforts have not gone unnoticed.

“Us” is available today via Warner Brother Records. This is only a hint of what listeners can expect from The Geek x VRV, with much more coming up on the horizon.
