Loyal shoppers and newcomers alike descended upon The Frye Company at Ponce City Market on Thursday, September 15th to celebrate the arrival of the highly anticipated Modern Icons Collection. Hosted by actress and modern icon Lauren Cohan, best known for her role as Maggie Greene on “The Walking Dead”, guests were treated to the sounds of DJ Pat O’Brien while enjoying complimentary Richland Rum cocktails, Emergency Drinking Beer from Wild Heaven Craft Beers and local bites from The Mercury. The signature cocktail of the night, perfect for any fall occasion and called Bootstrap, was made with Georgia’s own Richland Rum, lime juice, lemon juice, aperol, simple syrup, Angostura bitters, Peychauds bitters, shaken and garnished with a Granny Smith Apple. With over 200 in attendance, stylish guests sipped and shopped, being the first to explore The Modern Icons Collection and fall’s newest arrivals. (Event Photos by Shelby Steckbauer)

U T O P I A: Roche Bobois Atlanta x Mimi Plange x Horizons Atlanta

Roche Bobois, luxury furniture editor, and Mimi Plange, award-winning fashion designer, have joined together to present their artistic collaboration - “UTOPIA” -a large exhibition of Roche Bobois’ iconic Mah Jong sofa, as well as wall coverings and accessories, produced exclusively for the special event.

The one-of-a-kind pieces, upholstered with custom Mimi Plange fabrics and leathers, will be sold with proceeds benefiting Horizons Atlanta. Horizons is Atlanta’s leading advocate and provider of summer learning programs with plans to expand over the next several years with a suite of programs serving 2000 metro Atlanta students. 

Roche Bobois will offer a “Pop Up Shop” of fashion and home accessories designed by Plange, which will showcase a modern interpretation of ancient African design traditions. Pulling heavily from her own Ghanaian heritage, Plange will showcase a painted version of the iconic Kente Cloth, surreal animal pop art collages, and her own army of pastel Ashanti Dolls. For the highly anticipated collaboration, Plange partnered with the Ethical Fashion Initiative,a program of a UN agency called ITC that connects the fashion industry with artisans in Africa and Haiti.

With the belief that Culture, Art and Design share the same philosophy and inspiration, Roche Bobois is also pleased to lend their support to such an important fundraising event for a perfect cohesion of fashion and design. “UTOPIA” is set to receive a large array of attention on both a local and national level; all ticket sales and items sold during the event will support Horizons Atlanta.

TOD'S FW 2016/17 Collection & Event Recap for CURE Childhood Cancer

Tod's at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta has stepped into the Fall fashion season with an explosion of vibrant color and metallic textures. To celebrate, Tod's hosted an event to feature the collection of fine Italian leather shoes, handbags and accessories. Their signature driver was proudly displayed in a rainbow of abundance as were alternate looks for every lifestyle - from streetwise sneakers to high-heeled loafers with a modern touch. 

Guests sipped on champagne and enjoyed passed hors d'oeuvres from Le Bilboquet.  

BUT the evening was not all about fashion. Giving is stylish too and I've said many times that Atlantan's are among the most charitable. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month so the evening benefited the Bowen Story Fund for CURE Childhood Cancer. Scott Story, co-founder of the Bowen Story Fund shared his personal experiences and motivation for creating this fund which aids families with food, transportation, hotel and gift cards who travel 50 or more miles to receive treatment for their child. Scott was featured on Atlanta Plugged In along with event host Shaye Strager of Strager Style:

This annual fashion event is open to the public and will feature a sneak peek of runway looks from 2016 RAGTRADE ATLANTA featured designers. In conjunction with their "Little Brown Bag" sale, Bloomingdale's Lenox will offer guests up to 80% off selected merchandise and will donate 10% of all purchases made on September 1 to Dress for SuccessAtlanta, a non-profit charity that empowers women in work and in life.
