MARIA ARISTIDOU Fall 2017 Couture

Once upon a time there was a story, an inspiration behind Maria Aristidou Autumn/Winter 2017- 2018 womenswear collection to tell ... "Belle âme - a beautiful soul."

A story of a woman that is united no matter the difficulties, the setbacks, the ups and downs, no matter the color, the religion, the beliefs, women can conquer the world. "Belle âme" is flooded with a playground of knit patterns, cozy wool's and metallic yarns. Elaborate embroideries create luxurious beaded fields in the designs, whereas, soft curves with unexpected details and sleek cuts, manifest the beauty and the elegance of this womenswear collection for day or night.

The power of Love, the Care, the Beauty and the Wisdom of a Woman is the rebirth of "a beautiful soul."

Acne Studios Spring 2018 Menswear

Acne Studios Spring 2018 Menswear

“I wanted a general mood of sensitivity, something romantic. These are times that everybody is dressed in hoods—urban apocalyptic, like Mad Max—but for me it was important to show something beautiful, inspiring maybe, without being pretentious.” - Jonny Johansson Acne Studios

In a genius and interactive move, Acne Studios flipped the switch (or entrance, should I say) with their Spring 2018 menswear show. Guests and attendees came into the venue through backstage and were ushered to the front of the house only to find themselves walking the runway and the models seated. This was absolutely brilliant!

moulin-rouge-paris-nyc-fashionado

The Moulin Rouge has officially confirmed their landmark voyage to the United States, as a part of this year’s BEST OF FRANCE celebration in Time Square, taking place on September 26, 2015 from 10:00am to 8:00pm and September 27, 2015 from 10:00am-7:00pm. Organized by the New York French Community in partnership with many prominent organizations, this third edition of BEST OF FRANCE, formerly known as Taste of France. The celebration is expected to have thousands of visitors over the course of the weekend, attendees will enjoy free entrance to walk the festival grounds and see abridged Moulin Rouge performances and fashion shows.

The French review is bringing “a Taste of Moulin Rouge” to New York City for the first time in 126 years, highlighting all of the glamour and elation that is a part of the French staple’s rich history. During their short time in NYC, the Moulin Rouge dancers will be making appearances at New York City’s most well-known landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, The Empire State Building and Times Square. Over the years, the Moulin Rouge has become the most famous cabaret in the world, internationally known for its French Cancan, immortalized by Toulouse-Lautrec in 1891 with his first advertising poster, as well as for its sumptuous grand stage shows: elaborate costumes boasting feathers, Swarovski crystals and sequins, fantastical settings, and original music.

“This is a widely anticipated event. The Moulin Rouge will greet the city that never sleeps for the first time in over 100 years,” says Moulin Rouge CEO, Jean-Jacques Clerico. “We are absolutely thrilled to participate in BEST OF FRANCE it is truly an honor to be part of something that encourages such strong global ties and cultural values. What better way to bring our legendary show to a legendary city than with our lavish costumes, majestic dances, and sensational French energy.”

The Moulin Rouge will perform two live shows daily at BEST OF FRANCE, in addition to the performances Moulin Rouge will host a daily Costume Fashion Show. Scheduled times as follows:

Project Runway goes to Europe

project-runway-europe-fashionado

This was anything but a European vacation for the Project Runway designers, though I am sure it was a blast! The designers and an assistant [former contestant] were sent to various European destinations, from Barcelona to Berlin, to seek inspiration and buy fabric for the challenge that would determine who'd move on to Fashion Week. Michelle's "do or die" moment came in the form of you're not eliminated but you're not going to Europe. Michelle stayed in NYC and even though she pouted and was kind of bitchy about it, she got to STAY in the competition.

Daniel surprised us all with this modern and edgy look. I love it. BUT he owes so much to Amanda who kept him current and on trend, otherwise he would have gone over-the-top dated and frumpy... So it will be interesting to see what he puts out for a collection since he won't have anyone guiding him.

Stanley won the challenge. He and Richard went to London and came up with the dark couture-esqe design. The capelet is chic and the styling, fantastic. Stanley gets an A+ for drama. The only [minor] issue I have is that he lined the dress with a beautiful black sequin fabric. [He] and the judges loved it and called it a "surprise"... I don't quite see it that way... To me, lining the gown in such a dramatic textile made it seem like the model was wearing the dress inside out.

Oh Patricia! Seriously, you go to Paris and you're inspiration is graffiti art??? WTF is wrong with you! Nina Garcia asked the same question, sans the "WTF." Paris is a fashion mecca. The most romantic city in the world and Patricia comes up with this schizophrenic nightmare. At the same time, I am so happy that Patricia has moved on to present in Fashion Week because I'm very interested to see the collection her artistic mind might produce. Nina and Heidi got into a debate [near argument] on art vs. fashion over Patricia. Amusing. Ratings. Drama. Blah Blah...

The only reason I am happy to see Layana go home is because she has demonstrated over the last few challenges that not only is she out of her league at this point in the competition BUT that she is a spoiled child! In life, you often win through failure. It's about time she learned that. By itself, the lace coat is good but as an ensemble, especially with the flowy blouse sleeves poking through, it's hideous. Maybe Daniel rubbed off on her because how a young designer can create something so dated just doesn't make sense. AUF! #fail

Finally, we have Michelle... good job! I don't think she regrets not going to Europe since going to Fashion Week is way better. I love the punk and bondage elements of the dress. The chest plate is reversible btw. Off subject: One word of advice for Michelle... seek counseling for your space and intimacy issues. That no hugging thing is freaky freaky weird and rude!
