Two of my favorite things are color and pattern, which Saunders presents so effortlessly and effectively, making this collection quite desirable. Harvey Nichols gets Pissy

Well, thank goodness it's not [shit] that would be "gross." Still, some people got their Depends in a twist and are pissed off over the

advert.  

The ad campaign features pretty models who couldn't "contain their excitement" over the huge sale at Harvey Nichols and wet themselves. Ridiculous, twisted humor. I think it's funny, though many found the ads offensive and in "bad taste." Regardless of your stand, Nichols has everyone talking.

Harvey Nichols is not a stranger to controversy. Last Christmas they caught flack over their "Walk of Shame" ads that showed women walking home the next morning after being out all night. [As if I've never done that!] Big deal....

In response to criticism over the pissy ads, Harvey Nichols' Marketing Director, Julia Bowe, had this to say: "In humorous reaction to the (often-irrational) excitement sale time engenders, we have developed this campaign to capture this near-fanatical spirit, because let's face it, the thought of picking up brands at up to 70% off is enough to excite and overwhelm even the most composed shopper in us all."

70% off? Think I just wet myself!

William & Kate Get Married Party

There are "royal wedding" parties all over the city, not to mention the nation and beyond.

"London is the most cosmopolitan city in the world" says tour guide

. A very proud Englishman, Joel gave my group an action-packed day of sight-seeing through London. In a 48 hour time frame, we slept little and rode the Tube lots - an adventure in itself - especially during rush hour!

Joel offered a wealth of knowledge, history and trivia of all things U.K.

A statue of Eros, popularly known as Cupid, in Piccadilly Circus, is the number one meeting point for first dates.

London is the site of the 2012 Olympics. As you can imagine, there is a city-wide beautification initiative. The digitized sculpture (above), located in Trafalgar Square, tells you how many days, hours, minutes and seconds until the highly anticipated event.

, designed the high-tech modern building which looks like a giant glass egg. It's actually City Hall.

Leadenhall Market is one of the oldest spots in London. Architecturally, it is beautiful and regal.

From William and Catherine coffee cups to William and Catherine condoms, London is ready to take the royal plunge! Every souvenir shop, newsstand and store front window proudly boasts of the upcoming royal nuptials. The royal wedding is on April 29th at Westminster Abbey.

Buckingham Palace. The Queen was not in the house, however. She prefers to spend her weekends at Windsor Castle.

Vivienne Westwood Fall 2011

Mother Earth, yes, our planet, served as the muse for the Fall 2011 fashion collection for Brittish designer Vivienne Westwood. But don't worry, Westwood didn't send crunchy granola eating, birkenstock wearing, hairy legged womyn down the runway! Instead, Westwood embraced the natural side of femininity with her personal style of activism - through high fashion.

Glittered warriors marched and sparkled down the runway in punk inspired make-up, which was quite apropos for Westwood, the mother of punk style herself.

All "types" of women were represented in all types of [fashion] styles. From tweeds to tulle, there was the "prim lady" and the "party girl" and even a tribute to Hollywood legend Jean Harlow.

Shiny gold was the color du jour.

Westwood's always been a little off the beaten fashion path and we love her for that. She has a special way of interpreting her artistic, political and social views with an intellect and sensibility that's in your face without being in your face. I'm a fan!

Paris London Miami

Mark and Brett are tres chic!

They recently moved to the fashionable Notting Hill area in West London after living fabulously in Paris. I recently caught up with them at their "vacation" home in historic Coral Gables, Florida.

First... the quick backstory!

Mark and I met and became instant friends while working together at Nordstrom some thirteen years ago in Atlanta. I was with Mark the night he met Brett. They've been together ever since.

Brett is an business executive with an international firm and is the left brain thinker of the relationship. While Mark, an architectural designer, is the right brain creative force. Together, they are a perfect balance of intellect and intuition - and they both have style, grace and charm. In Paris, their place was on the sophisticated Champs-Élysées.

The view, from their balcony, of the Arc de Triomphe was so close that you could almost touch it! After five years in Paris, they moved to London as Brett's business territories shifted.

While spending [my] Christmas in Miami I visited with Mark and Brett and got inspired to do this story after touring the gorgeous home they just bought. To be honest, I saw it at Thanksgiving during a very brief visit with Mark. This time around, I had an all day catch-up with them which included dinner at the well known Havana Harry's.

The entrance to the 1926 home built by famed architect Robert Law Weed was stacked with 250 moving boxes which had just arrived from London two days prior to my visit.

One of several varieties of heliconia that grace the property. The landscape will undoubtedly change and evolve to grandeur as Mark has the greenest thumb I've ever seen.

The house itself is undergoing a transformation as it has some fixer-upper characteristics! For example, check out the new french doors... every window and door has been replaced, upgraded and modernized by Mark and Brett.

Mark has many creative outlets, like knitting, gardening and antiquing. You should see his impressive collection of Lu Ray pastel dinnerware. Mosaic tiling is another hobby. This fabulous planter is just one of many works of art by my multi-talented transatlantic amigo. Mark creates them out of broken tiles and upon his return to London he's going to take a workshop with a Parisian artisan who'll teach him to make them from glass.

Mark, his brother Kenneth and I, picked Brett up at Miami International a couple of days before Christmas. Brett had one very special [and fragile] carry on luggage. A surprise for Mark of the most exquisite glass ornaments he picked up in Finland.

I miss Mark and Brett terribly, though I am happy their lives are so complete. Plus having friends living

abroad is a nice bonus. I'll be seeing them while in London this Spring and will be sure to tell you about their place in Notting Hill, which by the way, opens up to the private Rosemead Gardens. The same gardens in the Julia Roberts, Hugh Grant movie, Notting Hill.
