Jeffrey Kalinsky’s Fall Trend Forecast:

If there is one bold font message from the Fall 2018 shows, it’s that fashion is forever changing. In a world where bothmenswear and womenswear are being presented together, brands are evolving from the notion of seasonal collections.

If we had to choose one word to describe the season, it is #EMPOWERMENT. The expression of femininity came in many differentshapes and sizes. From sharp shoulder outerwear, to an array of shine and iridescent colors, Fall 18 was anything but safe.

Other notable trends we noticed on the runways:

Sparkle:  Traditional sequins just don’t cut it! Your favorite knits, dresses, and coats have been transformed into exploded novelty items. The whirl of paillettes storming down the runway was hard to miss and the most shimmering jumpsuits were sent down the cat walk.

Oversize:  Enormous fashion, anyone? Don’t be afraid to layer up with 2-in-1 pieces or oversized strong shoulder outerwear reminiscent of the 80’s. Designers are delivering exciting collaborations with this trend.

Sports:  Go team go! Many designers took to the sports culture, each creating their own athletic inspired merchandise.

Neon:  Not afraid of color! Fall 2018 brings you iridescent dresses that can be seen from a mile away.  On the runway, there were eye-popping neons (pink, green, and orange) in every type of fabric imaginable, including florescent infused knits.

Plaid:  Plaid looked richer than ever this season. We saw perfect tailoring to strong outerwear, all featuring plaid or plaid prints.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN FOR HALPERN F/W 2018

A dazzling interpretation of an inappropriate glamour...

This season saw Christian Louboutin's second collaboration with Michael Halpern’s eponymous brand; the designer’s usual high glamour world taking a bigger, more daring approach for the season, turning traditional eveningwear on its head.

The rock and roll edge of last season was given an even grittier dress code for AW18.

Inspired by seasoned socialite and sartorial rule breaker Nan Kemper, the collection showcased a burst of color wrapped around dazzling super flares, glittering miniskirts paired with embellished t-shirts and a highly crafted shoulder of a jacket irreverently morphed into a luxurious mini dress.

Drawing from the ever-changing landscape of the world’s most famous concrete jungle, exploding peonies and animal prints appeared as recurring themes, elevated to a three-dimensional quality through embellishment and metallic fabric treatments.

The dazzling interpretation of an inappropriate glamour - wearing an evening look at noon, dressing against the dress codes, and the irresistible pleasure of being out of place - was furthered by the addition of customized Christian Louboutin styles inspired by Miss Daisy from the Spring Summer 2018 collection.

Matching the fabrics of the most exceptional outfits, thigh high boots come in a vibrant palette of colors and patterns. The playful mules were a highlight with contrasting color block fragments and multi-colored firework sequins. Self assured ankle boots adorned in Halpern's AW18 zebra flip motif further embodies the freedom from fashion etiquette. All three styles are showcased in a psychedelic fil coupé that comes in both pink and yellow. All sit atop Christian LouboutIn's sculptural SS18 Gueridon heel, reflecting Michael Halpern's creative vision of a silhouette freeze-framing the fleeting moments of ease embodied in the movement of eveningwear.

Halpern Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear

So, still Michael Halpern persists, this time angling his thoughts toward “Inappropriate glamour” – in his mind, the idea of rebelliously breaking fashion rules, and wearing sequins during the day. An inspiration was the legend of Nan Kempner: “That time she was turned away from Le Cirque because she was wearing a Saint Laurent trouser suit – and so went away, took off the pants, and went in wearing the jacket as a dress.” Vogue

Atelier Versace Fall 2017 Couture

Versace’s update resulted in major, majorevening—a bravura performance of high-octane, super-sexy, and exquisitely and inventively worked looks, all bronze metallic scale embroideries, silver chains suspended in cobweb-like formations, and an embellishment that looked like crystal but which was actually beads faced with silver leaf. TOM FORD Spring 2016 NYFW

Tom Ford is a trendsetter in every way and last night he flexed his NYFW creds by embracing the much talked about, much debated show-now-shop-now concept. However, it's not a concept anymore because we- the consumer- can walk into the Tom Ford showroom on Madison Ave and SHOP the looks! And speaking of the looks, it was classic Tom Ford. Sexy, sequined, plunging necklines, pencil skirts and to-die-for blazers for men - all with his signature retro-vibe.

An Exclusive First Look of the 2015 Jeffrey Fashion Cares Runway Fashion

"... people should expect to see fashion with a capital F," Jeffrey Kalinsky

As a fashion blogger, it was beyond everything fabulous to have the opportunity to browse through all the designer looks slated to take the Jeffrey Fashion Cares runway this upcoming Monday, August 31st. Remember the "fashion closet" in The Devil Wears Prada, it felt something like that! So what could be better than this? How about chatting it up with the man of the hour himself, Jeffrey Kalinsky at Jeffrey Atlanta at Phipps Plaza, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

"Everyone can expect to see very pretty clothes, but also people should expect to see fashion with a capital F" said Jeffrey about Monday night's 23rd Annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares runway show.

Dior, Dries Van Noten, Proenza Schouler and so many other amazing labels will be featured in what promises to be the hottest fashion ticket in town. [At the moment] the backroom at Jeffrey Atlanta is a fashion fantasy of high end designer sequins, textures, prints, pattern and vibrant color. AND don't even get me started on the SHOES!

It was such a treat to observe Jeffrey in action. He, along with his NY dream team would look at the model head to toe, discuss and tweak. They were very focused. Change out a blouse here, different pair of earrings there - the look was complete when perfection was achieved. Throughout the entire process, Jeffrey was very calm, relaxed and dancing to the remixed beats of their DJ in between fittings. [Thanks for the great photos Tomas Espinoza!]

Monday will be epic.
