Spring 2014 menswear collection presented in London. Beautifully tailored, of course, yet frayed and tattered brocades and embroidery attempt to tell a story. Burton continued with her signature layering approach and there was enough lace to spare. While I am a fan of all things McQueen, I am not attracted to the androgynous element clearly evident in this collection. I prefer to be a well-dressed man rather than look like a girlie-man. . She played with a masculine/feminine approach, hard lines and exaggerated proportions. In keeping with McQueen's tradition of extravagant detailing, the embellishments are beyond this world as evidenced in the exquisite and painstaking embroidery and beading found in many of the garments. I would expect nothing less. This is a truly remarkable and striking collection. And yes, it's Ready-to-Wear!
