Photographer Rob Kulisek trails a group of young friends, locked up in the hazy city, trying to escape from boredom. The imposing sun and laid-back attraction of L.A. summer is intensified by the new cuts of the collection. Looser, slightly cropped fits enhanced by the logo or the Floral print heighten the tracksuit as THE timeless uniform of chill.
KENZO’s inimitable mix of pop fantasy makes the west coast boredom so enviable.
Step aside NYFW, Saint Laurent is showing in Los Angeles. Hedi Slimane presented his men and womenswear collection at the famed Palladium in LA. 70s & 80s glam-rock, disco, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, a little Courtney Love, vampires, AHS Hotel, coke and herion is what I get from this show. Slime gave us beautiful furs - for him too- rich velvets, glitzy lames, lots of pattern and rock & roll styling and of course, Saint Laurent's signature tux. did not hold back on color for Spring 2013. In fact, creative director
Massimiliano Giornetti
turned up the volume to the max. He referred to his free and abundant use of colors as "vitamins" [as in rich & fortified]. Another non-Ferragamo-like move, NO dress shoes in the show, only sneakers. And speaking of movement, this menswear collection was inspired by the fast paced city of L.A.
My favorite aspect of the show was the clever runway line up. Notice, a full spectrum of color at the beginning, deluding away gradually until the final looks appear, in all white.
