Tiësto & John Legend Release New Single 'Summer Nights'

Today, DJ/producer and dance music icon, Tiësto, releases his new collaborative single ‘Summer Nights’ featuring Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, John Legend. The track is available now on Spotify, iTunes and across streaming platforms.

‘Summer Nights’ represents the first time the duo has teamed up since the release of the Grammy award winning hit remix of, ‘All Of Me,’ in 2014. Together, John and Tiësto worked to create a track that stays true to John’s sensibilities as a live performer but that also incorporates the undeniable dance music energy that Tiësto is known for.

“I was really excited to work with John again following the huge success we had with my remix of ‘All Of Me,’” said Tiësto. “For ‘Summer Nights,’ we wanted to make a record that mixed the energy from my club tracks with his amazing soulful take on pop music and I’m really happy with the result. This record is definitely a bit of a musical departure for me but it was important to us that the end result really emphasize John’s funky soul vibe.”

The result is an irresistible summer jam that is as melodic as it is ebullient. Tiësto has created a fun, layered anthem that perfectly complements John’s soulful vocals, his voice taking center stage as he croons about making his summer nights last forever with his special someone.

Seven Lions & Ricky Mears remix "Coming Home” in new festival mix

seven lions ricky mears

Earlier this year, Seven Lions released the acoustic track “Coming Home” on his Creation EP, a standout for the electronic producer as he continues to prove his prowess over multiple genres of music.  Always dynamic, Seven Lions has now teamed up with Ricky Mears to create a festival mix of “Coming Home” that retains the integrity of the original version but is completely at home on the festival stage - and the dance floor. Seven Lions on the mix: "I wanted to add Coming Home into my sets so I decided we really needed a festival version to bring it into the realm of my shows. I think it keeps the acoustic vibes of the original but definitely makes it more friendly for the dance floor. Ricky came up with some great chords and it was a fun song to hype up into a festival mix.”

The unique style of Ricky Mears has already earned him collaborations with stars like Beyonce and DJ Mustard, and now he lent his signature touch to “Coming Home.”  Says Myers, "I've been a fan of Seven Lions for so long, working with him has been surreal. morten fiyya

Heating it up from his native Denmark, MORTEN’s latest delivery “FIYAA” is a surefire sizzler. The prog & electro house favorite bathes the track in a bass house marinade before igniting it in flames with his signature big room sound. The single marks MORTEN’s return to Dim Mak since his 2015 anthem “Ukali” set the world aflame. The tenacious track garnered A-list support across the globe, including David Guetta, Sidney Sampson, Dimitry Vegas and Like Mike, and R3hab.

“FIYAA” continues MORTEN’s monumentous 2016. He kicked off the year releasing “Beautiful Heartbeat,” on Aviici’s PRMD label. The track racked up over 10 million collective streams, with official remixes from Aviici, Deorro, and RAC. During Miami’s Ultra Music Festival, MORTEN premiered “Body Down (Inspector Gadget),” a playful take on Inspector Gadget’s theme song. Dancing Astronaut called the festival anthem “Unapologetically fun,” and exclaimed that MORTEN’s, “…Not only atop the big room game right now, but using a variety of crossover and club-favoring material to dominate the electronic landscape in 2016.”

Through contagious originals and powerful remixes, MORTEN continues to change the game. His official remix of David Guetta’s “What I Did For Love (Feat Emeli Sandé)” flips the original into a vibrant club-oriented house heater. The bootleg transformation of Adele’s “Hello” gained airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Sirius XM’s BPM, while fans at EDM.com voted MORTEN’s rendition the best of the remixes thus far. Anamanaguchi & virtual pop star Hatsune Miku pioneer the future of Pop Music

hatsune mike anamanaguchi

The shape of pop creation is currently shifting. Instead of an elite team of specialists grooming a child through adolescence for a public audience, inventive artists with computers can make themselves, their friends, or a stranger off the street into hyperrealmanifestations that go even further. This phenomenon is showcased best via New York City band Anamanaguchi’s collaboration with Japanese virtual star Hatsune Miku on her crossover pop track “Miku.”

Portrayed as a 16-year-old girl with long, turquoise pigtails, Hatsune Miku is voiced by a singing synthesizer application calledVocaloid. Despite not being a ‘real person’, she is selling out arena concerts worldwide and her vocaloid software has allowed 100,000+ songs to be made using her voice. Miku’s countless endorsement deals, including her own Super GT racing team and modeling partnership with Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci, would certainly be the envy of any ‘real’ pop star.

hatsune miku

Anamanaguchi is a digital pop group featuring the warped productions and hyperactive melodies of songwriters Peter Berkman,Ary Warnaar, and Luke Silas, playing under custom-fabricated lights made by bassist James DeVito (who most recently designed LED outfits for Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour). They are a team of playful DIY internet anarchists whose colorful iconoclasm comes with a heavy sense of humor and a seriousness about having fun. When they’re not busy touring, Berkman and Warnaaralongside Web Master Neil Cline have been heading hypermedia titan NHX on internet music releases such as: ⒶⓃⒶⓇⒸⒽⓎ,Capsule Silence XXIVMaxo’s Chordslayer EP, and many more.

The track they have collaborated on tells the story Miku becoming self-aware - a transhuman singularity spurred by the pop star’s desire for independence and agency. Lyrically, the song is about the how Miku is seen and what she's capable of - a personal anthem of sorts. She sings both about how she's grateful of what she's become, and how she owes it to the support of the communities around her, as well as her understanding that she was initially created as a tool - a continuous facade for her users remote fascinations.

The mechanics behind working with a virtual artist usher in a new method of creating pop music. Anamanaguchi started the track in a grimy art-squat basement in chinatown NYC and finished it in a state-of-the-art recording studio in Shibuya, Tokyo. And whileMiku may not have physically been in the booth with them, weekly skype meetings with her and her team (Crypton Future Media) kept her very involved in the process.

The release of “Miku” comes at the peak of Hatsune Miku and Anamanaguchi’s joint Miku Expo 2016 North American Tour whichfeatured the virtual star’s first live performances alongside an American band. Hatsune Miku appears on stage to her devoted fans as a projection, while the band support her with live instrumentation. Although anyone can use the software, performing their song together marks Miku’s live inaugural collaboration with an American artist. Anamanaguchi’s involvement in this extraordinary partnership goes quite past song production, extending even to choreography direction in Miku’s live performance.
