Project Runway, Lingerie & World Domination Close Out NYFW

Orlando Dugi

Patricia Michaels

Style Fashion Week New York wrapped up on Saturday, September 10th with consistently impressive fashion shows. Opening the final night were Native American designers Orlando Dugi and Patricia Michaels who brought culture and heritage to the runway. The artistic designs by Orlando Dugi showed unique artwork and captivating silhouettes,. Following were the ornamental ensembles from Project Runway alumni Patricia Michaels’ PM Waterlily collection, which featured her own original hand-dyed fabrics and entrancing textures. Guests were fascinated by each new piece that paraded down the runway, leaving them wondering what was going to come next.

The highly anticipated closing show of the week brought an interesting mix of distinct styles to a packed house at Hammerstein Ballroom. The first to show was Japanese designer Akiyo Hirakubo of Bradelis New York, a sultry yet ethereal lingerie line featuring enchanting and sophisticated pieces. Danny Nguyen’s ready-to-wear spring/summer collection took to the runway next, showing off a range of all white and gold exquisite designs. The models sported elegant, gold lace arm pieces. The final designer to close out Style Fashion Week, Adrian Alicea, put on a performance to remember from start to finish, with his “World Domination” line, featuring racy and seductive lingerie, underwear for men and women’s dresses.

RAGTRADE ATLANTA 2015 RECAP

PHOTOS: Kennyatta Collins. Fashion Photographer for Premier XI Photography

The Atlanta fashion scene exploded at last week's second annual RAGTRADE ATLANTA fashion event. Five emerging designers, accompanied by two student designers from the Art Institute of Atlanta, a Ragtrade partner, presented impressive and exciting runway collections. Art Institute designers, Zonia Santander and Andre Bryson gave us a glimpse of the talent within the Art Institute of Atlanta with a mini-collection of five sensational looks each. Brendan M Combs opened the designer showcase with an edgy and futuristic collection, followed by the chic and sophisticated style of Sylvia Mollie. Returning Ragtrade designer, Natt Taylor wowed the audience with her asymmetrical peplums and Zachary/Nathaniel took us to a place of dark glamour and haunted beauty. Closing the runway, Edmond Newton, who is killing it on the current season of Project Runway, gave us one sleeved looks, sheers and flowing dresses. America's Next Top Model, Bello Sanchez and his baby blues, graced the runway for both Brendan M Combs and Zachary/Nathaniel.

Ragtrade Atlanta is leaving its mark on the city and earning its place as a valuable resource for emerging design talent through a series of year-round industry events. The Ragtrade Atlanta showcase on October 14th held at the Georgia Freight Depot was a sold-out event. It brought together a diverse group of designers, sponsors, partners and guests, proving that fashion is global, transcending boundaries, unifying lives and embracing differences. Ragtrade Atlanta was a celebration of fashion, art and culture. Keep an eye on them as they continue to grow and evolve, Ragtrade Atlanta may very well be "Fashion's Next Voice."

VIKTOR LUNA FALL 2015

Viktor Luna called it Guerrilla Warfare. These rough and tough badass chicks who were all so chic in their armor-like garments commanded attention. In a collaboration with Dmitry Byalik, Viktor Luna went literal with the "guerrilla" and presented a leather-embossed gorilla on the back of some of the jackets. They're intense and ready for war. Viktor Luna presented his women as warriors in fantastical and heavily embellished apocalyptic attire. As you begin to break down the pieces, what you have is a very modern collection for today's strong woman. The hardness of leather and metal work is soften by goat hair on jacket sleeves and reinforces Viktor Luna's allegiance to glamour and femininity. This season we also got a little bit of color in fabulous bleached legwear. Possibly one of the most versatile elements in this collection is the motorcycle jacket which is quickly becoming a signature piece for Viktor Luna. His jackets, which makes a bold statement, have so much presence and can be worn with any dress, skirt or pant. Guerrilla Warfare Chic.
