“I called this collection Momentum because I think the life we are leading is no longer to do with our own mass, I think it’s to do with other people’s opinions. And I guess I’m kind of anti that.” Hussein Chalayan

BIBHU MOHAPATRA RESORT 2018

This collection celebrates the 21st Century young female leaders who have a unique voice that inspires their own generation and the generations to come.

Bibhu Mohapatra Resort 2018 collection celebrates the 21st Century young female leaders who have a unique voice that inspires their own generation and the generations to come. Mohapatra hopes to inspire the leaders of tomorrow with inner strength, confidence, courage and drive to make a difference by rising above all differences. The inspiration is very much present through the collection with strong, sleek architectural silhouettes.

From the first look a white crepe day dress with cut crystal embroidery, to the watercress print that is seen in the more playful separate pieces and in an embroidery that cascades down a sleek column skirt. Mohapatra is one that is never afraid to play colors, and we see that with his bright pinks and reds that are accented through out the collection. Photos: Kevin Sturman

Bibhu Mohapatra is a New York based and Indian born luxury women’s-wear designer. Before launching his eponymous label at New York’s Fall 2009 New York Fashion Week, he was the Design Director at J.Mendel for almost a decade. His label is currently sold at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Harvey Nichols, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, and specialty boutiques in North America, Europe, Russia and the Middle East. To date, celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Hilary Swank, Glenn Close, Janelle Monae, Lupita N’youngo, Jennifer Lopez and Taraji P. Henson have all worn Bibhu’s designs, and he has had the honor to dress former US First Lady, Michelle Obama. In January 2010, Bibhu was a finalist in the Women’s Apparel 2010 Rising Star Award presented by the Fashion Group International. In May 2010 he received the Young Innovator Award from the National Arts Club and in June 2010, became a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Bibhu received the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award in January 2011 and was a US finalist in the 2012 International Woolmark prize. In 2014 Bibhu signed his first licensing deal with BCI one the largest fur manufactures in North America. This then led to his 2016 launch of his first ever full fledge diamond collection in collaboration with Forevermark India.

PORTS 1961 SPRING SUMMER 2018 MENSWEAR

The spring-summer Ports 1961 menswear collection is a celebration of diversity, strength and optimism.

Fashion reflects the world around us. In a time of challenge, fear and disillusion, it is the creative person's role to try to deliver a message of love and hope.

For the past several seasons, Milan Vukmirovic has been exploring the urgency of love and the importance of fraternity, unity and solidarity.

Inspired by Jean Michel Basquiat’s work and personal style, African cool-setters and the hip-hop scene in New York in the early Eighties, Milan Vukmirovic presents an upbeat collection with a very positive message.

Brimming with color and meaning, this collection is a window that opens to the world and defends the richness of difference.

This season, Ports 1961 draws in equal measures on street culture, contemporary dress and local artisans. Embroidery and prints point to far horizons.

This collection is, in its own way, a message of solidarity for the Black Lives Matter movement that began in the street and on social media in 2012. The fight against violence and for justice for black people resonates today in an even wider, bigger way.

Now, more than ever, EVERY LIFE MATTERS. EVERY COLOR MATTERS. ONLY LOVE MATTERS.
