Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2014

Maison Martin Margiela presented clever ideas for their Spring Couture show. Tim Blanks of Style.com compared the collection to the Slow Food movement - such a fitting reference. Instead of organic, farm-to-table cuisine, think designer textiles from greats such as Frank Lloyd Wright, selvedge included. Personally, I love and I'm intrigued with the creative process. The collection of ideas that come together to conceptualize, produce and execute a designer's vision is very revealing. The organdy face masks with embroidery over the eyes are creepy, I'll admit. But at the same time, the juxtaposition of beauty and horror offers an unsettling appeal to many.
