Project Runway Lexus Unconventional Challenge

Project Runway: Unconventional Lexus Team Challenge

Look at the tragic rockabilly-esque nightmares pictured above... lots more on that in a minute.

Project Runway delivered a terrific episode last night, though admittedly, the opening chapter made my head hurt. There were too many aspects to the challenge: 1- it was unconventional; 2- team challenge [worked in threes]; 3- three specialty stores provided materials; 4- the new Lexus IS sponsored the challenge but (vehicle model) inspiration was optional; 5- create a mini-collection. You still with me? Cuz we're about to get to the good stuff!

Celebrity stylist,

June Ambrose

guest judged. She was wonderful. Bring her back! The teams got along well, except for one... saving that juicy review for the end.

Miranda

Good work from a good team. These guys worked well together, they communicated and created in harmony. Miranda's skirt is simply amazing. Made out of wall paper, the pattern is so spectacular that the judges eyes followed every move on the runway. And while I liked Alexander and Bradon's pieces, they were maybe a bit heavy on the drag queen couture. Go figure.

Justin, Dom and Helen also worked well together but I found their mini-collection to be on the dull side. I do like Dom's oragami shoulder very much. Helen's paper dress on the other hand... yikes! Not for ya working darling.

Kate

This was the winning team. I loved all three looks. Jeremy took home the  win. He was determined NOT to create another "madam" looking frock. He was praised for the style and construction of the sexy and chic strapless dress. Karen did very well too by successfully incorprating a wide variety of materials into her design. My fave goes to Kate. Her look was totally fierce. Sexy. Modern. Edgy. Expensive. Cut-a-bitch in that dress!

Words of wisdom from

Heidi Klum

about not getting along in team challenges always puts you in the bottom. So true the case with Ken, Alexandria and Sue. Three talented designers who fucked it up with a blend of ego and insecurities. They were so focused on not getting along that design took second fiddle to their actions. Sue and Ken went head to head. Alexandria, who I thought was tough, needed to grow a pair. Instead she babbled on about petting a cat?? Please, no pussy talk on Project Runway! WTF. Sue couldn't complete her looked and it cost her: Aufed... BUT the worst came from little Ken. I had liked him until now. First, he tweeted his angst about his team selection being arranged. Later he tweeted that Project Runway had edited him to be a "bitch." NO NO darling... I've been around and know you're type well. NO editing necessary. Ken is a self-righteous sassy gaybitch suffering from Napoleon Syndrome. [ Click

for the definition Ken, my dear.] Ken shot himself in the foot with his negative attitude. Hopefully this was a wake up call for him and he'll concentrate on challenges ONLY in the future...
