Marchesa Fall 2011
/
Oh Marchesa, how I love thee!
To describe the collection in just one word: Opulence. But Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig had multiple layers of intention when designing their Fall 2011 Collection.
Chapman was inspired by the "decaying opulence" of Miss Havisham in Great Expectations.
The "decay" wasn't as evident as the "opulence" throughout the collection. Deconstructed treatment to some of the silk and tulle edging here and there was the extent of it.
The use of lace was one of the most striking features of the collection, mostly because it wasn't actually lace. It was tulle that was magnificently embroidered with crystals, leather and pearls.
Notice the lace socks!
With a collection like this, it is no surprise that Marchesa is so often gracing the red carpet.
Miss Havisham would be proud. Stunning & breathtaking.
