PENLAND School of Crafts

A brave and extraordinary woman, with a vision, in 1929, started what is known today as the Penland School of Crafts. Located in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, Penland offers studio workshops in clay, glassblowing, metalworking, textiles, book arts, printmaking, iron, photography and painting, thus carrying forth Miss Lucy Morgan's legacy of creating a national craft eduction center.

I am thrilled and honored to be teaching at this remarkable place for two glorious weeks. The studios are open 24 hours a day and my students are working passionately - it's a dream. I will publish a post and photo essay about this later in the week. There are lots of wonderful things happening in Penland studios. All the time!
