Atelier Cillian debuted their NYFW FW23 collection as part of New York Men's Day located at Daylight Studios near Hudson Yards. This season, creative director Stephen Mikhail titled his collection Mallevs Maleficarvm. Mikhail delivered a dark, mysterious and modern twist on sartorial menswear from the collection which was further driven by its styling.
"Autumn/Winter was inspired by Malleus Maleficarum, a “pious” doctrine about how to identify and punish witches. Written in 1486 by Heinrich Kramer, the Malleus Maleficarum set the standard for centuries of brutality against women perceived as witches. The collection tells the story of the pagans and their relationship with nature, their condemnation by the Church, and the terrible fates that befell them because of it. " Stephen Mikhail
The collection is dedicated to Mikhail’s friend and muse, Jeremy Ruehlemann (05.20.95 — 01.23.23).
