ARMIN VAN BUUREN REMIXES ICONIC VAN HALEN SINGLE “JUMP”

It’s not every day that you see two very different legendary artists team up for a common cause, but today is one of those memorable days that dance music fans won’t soon forget - the renowned Dutch DJ and producer Armin van Buuren has taken on the challenge of remixing Van Halen’s classic 1983 smash hit “Jump,” one of the most enduring and timeless singles in rock & roll history. Out today through Big Beat Records, Armin van Buuren puts his signature, uplifting, progressive, trance spin on the iconic rock anthem, kicking off the remix by isolating front man David Lee Roth’s classic verse and adding in arpeggiating synths and cowbell for good measure. Naturally the remix explodes once it reaches the song’s classic chorus, and never lets go from there, steadily building until an unforgettable climax. Who would’ve thought “Jump” could get any more anthemic?!

“Jump” is still Van Halen’s most successful single to date, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 along with being ranked #15 on VH1’s “100 Greatest Songs of the 1980s.” The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum also listed it as one of the “500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll” and its music video was nominated for three MTV VMAs at the time, along with winning “Best Stage Performance.” Armin’s remix of Jump had its first listen when Van Halen front man David Lee Roth came out during Armin’s Ultra Main Stage performance earlier this year for a performance fans still haven’t forgotten.

After giving fans a glimpse into Chapter Six of the aquatic fairytale, with the release of the theme for Imagine 2019- “What Lies Deep at the Bottom of the Ocean,” the first round lineup is finally here. GALANTIS “BONES” FT. ONEREPUBLIC OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO ARRIVES TODAY

Swedish duo Galantis welcomes viewers to step into a remarkable fantasy world where bodies are transformed into skeleton form in the new official music video for their single “Bones” featuring OneRepublic. Video director Spencer Hord of AfterWeDead says, “This project was a rare occasion where our amazing team of animators, editors, and production nerds (Joe Cella // Pix3lface // Vince McKelvie // Sam Newell // Andrew Henry // Joey Bryars // Brian Beckwith) saw the album artwork and knew the concept straight away.” On his interpretation of Bones Park Hord says, “We wanted to do something conceptually simple, but visually challenging. The goal was to create a literal representation of “Bones” with 3D animation, and merge these CG assets with a moody amusement park environment to create a surreal mixed-reality narrative. We shot the live action plates at Castle Park in Riverside - a small theme park in Southern California I grew up attending for various grade-school birthday parties. The location was much better than I remembered, and the production process became a nostalgic experience to say the least.” 

“Bones” builds acoustically and takes flight in true Galantis fashion. The Grammy nominated duo’s latest single follows up the recent success of “San Francisco” (feat. Sofia Carson), along with “Emoji”, "Satisfied” (feat. MAX), and "Spaceship” (feat. Uffie). Known for their over-the-top live performances, Christian Karlsson (also of Bloodshy & Avant and Miike Snow) and Linus Eklöw (Style of Eye) are spanning the globe with festivals and shows in 2019, including a headline live show at New York’s Brooklyn Mirage on July 5th that has just gone on sale, a show at Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall on October 18th that goes on sale this Thursday, April 25th, and more coming soon.

THUNDERPUSSY SHARES COVER OF JEFFERSON AIRPLANE'S "SOMEBODY TO LOVE"

Seattle-based all female rock band Thunderpussy shares a fiery cover of Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody To Love” today, ahead of a Supreme Court case on April 15 that will determine the fate of trademarking their name. Of the song, the band says, “At a time when it feels like empathy and compassion are lost and the polarization of thoughts and ideas is paramount, maybe it’s time to stop looking for someone to blame and instead find someone to love.“

The song follows the release of Thunderpussy’s self-titled debut album last year via Stardog Records/Republic Records, which Pearl Jam's Mike McCready lent guitar and production on, calling them his "favorite new band." Listen to Thunderpussy HERE!

In May 2015, Thunderpussy applied for a US trademark to protect their name and brand in preparation for world domination. A short time later, they received a letter from the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) denying the band their trademark on the grounds that their name was “immoral” and “scandalous” per the guidelines laid down in the Truman-era Lanham Act of 1946, even citing Urban Dictionary as a credible source as to why the word pussy is regarded as a derogatory term.

The band’s fate now depends on the outcome of a new case, Iancu v. Brunetti, which will be argued at the Supreme Court on April 15, 2019, where Eric Brunetti will be defending his clothing brand, FUCT, a case he’s been fighting for nearly 20 years.

Two years ago, Asian-American band The Slants won their case based on the argument that they were reappropriating an ethnic slur and turning it into a badge of pride. Similarly, as women, Thunderpussy’s intention has always been to shed a positive light on a word that has been used in a derogatory manner and seen as a joke or weak. Because it is exactly the opposite - the word pussy is powerful.

DANCE FLOOR HIT-MAKER FAUSTIX IS BACK WITH NEW SINGLE + MUSIC VIDEO

DJ and producer, Faustix, is fresh off a sizzling hot 2018 - now back with his new single ’Thorns’ out today (via Big Beat Records) alongside the official music video! Listen/watch HERE.

 Written by the Swedish pop-duo Smith & Thell ’Thorns’ is a Nu Disco-leaning track (a first for Faustix) with a universal and relatable theme: getting hurt but moving on as a stronger person. The powerful music video depicts just that, and is the inspiration we all need to believe we can come out of any situation stronger.  

Staying true to the core feeling of authenticity and emotion behind the vocals that Faustix felt upon hearing it for the first time, he coasted on that feeling while building out the production, allowing him to maintain the magic – something he hopes to pass off to listeners. “I feel that the entire track is like we are an orchestra of 20-30 people each playing an instrument having the greatest time, and I love that feeling”, Faustix expressed.

Dillon Francis & lovelytheband Release New Single, "Change Your Mind"

Today, multi-platinum-selling DJ and producer, Dillon Francis dropped his highly-anticipated new single, “Change Your Mind,” a collaboration featuring iHeart Radio’s Best New Alternative Rock Artist of the year, platinum recording artist, lovelytheband. DAVID GUETTA RELEASES DOCUMENTARY ’THE ROAD TO JACK BACK’ IN CONJUNCTION W/ BEATPORT

With the release of his album ‘7’ back in September, David Guetta has represented the many different sides of his musical journey by relaunching his Jack Back alias. 

Beatport has captured the story behind Jack Back in a short documentary which will be premiered exclusively on Thursday, March 28 during Winter Music Conference in Miami. 

Before he took world fame in the pop industry, Guetta spent his early years of DJ’ing mainly in clubs playing house music. Explaining the alias, he said: ‘’Since the album represents a full cycle to me I wanted to go back to the beginning of the cycle, where I’m coming from. These are actually the type of records that come more naturally to me than pop, because I’ve done this all my life. I wanted to create something very personal. I get excited by music that is part of a culture and that’s why I wanted to make this. There is no commercial approach to it, I’m doing it for the love of music.’’

 After the exclusive premiere on Thursday, March 28, the full documentary will be available on Beatport’s YouTube channel from Friday, March 29.
