Wolfgang Gartner unveils 10 Ways To Steal Home Plate LP
Five years after helping to pioneer the US dance explosion with his debut Weekend In America album, Wolfgang Gartner has returned with his second LP 10 Ways To Steal Home Plate.
The 10-track offering is a swirling cauldron of sounds and tempos, bubbling over with bona fide dancefloor igniters from across the genre spectrum. Fans may recognize the final track “Unholy” which Gartner first unveiled in 2014 as a club-ready cut that strikes the perfect balance between anthemic electro beats and shimmering house melodies. The rest of the album is brimming with bombastic electro slammers like “Turn Up,” the thrashing party-starter featuring vocals from UK grime MC Wiley and rap queen Trina, as well as “Up In Smoke,” the grungy collaboration alongside A-Trakanchored by sultry croons from songstress Sirah whose voice we remember from Skrillex’s “Bangarang.”
10 Ways To Steal Home Plate also introduces us to Gartner’s love for nu disco with “Replay,” “Y.W.M.O” and “Faded,” touting airy percussion, playful synth work and saccharine vocals. Rounded out with classic house grooves like “Looking for You ft. Negin Djafari,” “Saved” and “Feel Right” by JHart,” as well as a dance-funk hybrid “Hurricane Slurricane ft. Dam Funk & E - 40,” Gartner’s sophomore reestablishes his reign as one of dance music’s leading innovators.
