Where to Eat Before Seeing Tootsie at the Fox Theatre
Tootsie is coming to Atlanta for one week only! From January 25 - 30, you can enjoy this acclaimed and hilarious musical at the Fox Theatre. Grab your tickets and your partner / bestie / mom and head to midtown Atlanta to make an entire night of it.
How, you ask? Indulge in some cocktails and delicious food before and/or after the show! There are many more restaurants near the Fox Theatre today than there were even a couple of years ago, and below are some of my favorite suggestions, depending on the type of evening you’re looking for.
All recommendations below are within walking distance of the Fox Theatre, so you don’t have to worry about parking twice.
For a fancy date night:
Make a reservation at Lyla Lila. The southern European restaurant was named one of America’s favorite restaurants by The New York Times in 2021, and is the only Atlanta-area restaurant to make the list. Run by two of the city’s esteemed restaurateurs, Billy Streck and chef Craig Richards, Lylia Lila is known for its inventive pastas and a focus on seasonal ingredients. Expect local produce and fresh seafood, artfully plated and complemented by exceptional beverages.
For a ladies’ / gentlemen’s night:
Check out El Vinedo Local. The South American tapas bar not only offers delectable empanadas, arepas, and ceviche, but also has a great selection of Argentinian and Chilean wines. If you’re looking for a unique meal that won’t break the bank and is quick enough to indulge in before the show, this is it. When the weather is nice, it’s best to enjoy your meal on the restaurant’s lovely patio.
For a night out with mom:
Splurge on entry to the Marquee Club. It’s an absolutely stunning space with lots of perks – complimentary food and non-alcoholic beverages, unlimited access to its three private floors and two rooftops before, during, and after the show, and early expedited entry to the show, among others. Everyone should experience the gorgeous Marquee Club at least once, and you have the option to purchase single event passes or a membership.
For drinks after the show:
Head to Proof and Provision, which is located at the bottom of the Georgian Terrace Hotel, directory across the street from the Fox. The Prohibition-style bar specializes in craft cocktails and tasty snacks, so it’s the perfect place to imbibe and grab a light bite after the show. The decor really adds to the ambiance – brick walls, Edison-style lights, and leather and wood-trimmed booths.
Tell us in the comments below: Are you heading to Tootsie this week, and if so, which of these dining options sounds the most appealing to you?
