A Perfect Fall Brunch
A week ago, my good friend Laura had me over to her amazing home for brunch. Laura has impeccable taste in fashion, interior design and culinary arts so I knew I was in for a treat. Not that her company alone wouldn't suffice, but c'mon, we all like nice things and special touches. Laura served a meal, perfect for that transitional period between seasons. The heavy hitters were homemade crab cakes, so scrumptious and paired with a spicy sauce I can't pronounce, and to start, lobster bisque. To balance things out and maintain a summery appeal, we had a fresh green salad accompanied with a fruit salad loaded with sweet watermelon. Rather than mimosas, Laura switched out the orange juice for pomegranate. Great twist! Delicious food, a beautiful setting and fabulous company, Laura is the perfect hostess ... I could learn a lot from her! [Can't forget dessert...] Oreo truffles, I died and went to Heaven.
