RUNWAY: Jeffrey Fashion Cares 2011
An avant garde, future-esque, black leather, cape-like frock stomped down the catwalk. Then another and another and another... The overall impact of the gorgeous glamazon warriors on the
19th Annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares
runway dressed in all black was not only dramatic, but a statement, perhaps, that black is the new black.
Designs by Haider Ackerman, Rick Owens, Junya Watanabe, Lanvin, Prada and of course Jason Wu set the 2011 Jeffrey Fashion Cares 150ft runway on fire. [Many other designers were featured as well.]
Color gradually trickled unto the runway and electrifying splashes of orange, greens, yellows, fuchsias and reds made their high-end presence known.
Randi Layne
and
Don Purcell
do an excellent job of laying out a cohesive runway show that is interesting, exciting and entertaining. And if it seems effortless, its because
they're
good!
Special guest designer,
Jason Wu
, closed out the runway with about 10+ looks from his spectacular Fall 2011 Collection. "Baroque meets sportwear" as its been tagged, treated Atlantans to a sumptuous display of "deconstructed lace." Many of the garment had been painstakingly hand embellished. The end result - sparkling brilliance and sheer elegance.
They look like models, though they're not, yet they were on the JFC runway and wearing Jason Wu, both on their backs and on their arm. [They are] Co-Chairs
Lila Hertz
and
Louise Sams
, of course...
Jeffrey McQuithy
(not pictured) rounds off the dynamic trio that work passionately to make Jeffrey Fashion Cares a successful event.
AND the men of the hour,
Jeffrey Kalinsky
and
Jason Wu
.
