Project PROM Dreams Come True
The remarkable folks at
For the Kid In All of Us wanted a signature event of the caliber of their other two famous Atlanta staples,
Toy Party and
Back Pack in the Park, and it looks like they got it in
Project Prom.
The concept: to repurpose [not very attractive & dated] prom and bridesmaid dresses; to modernize and beautify.
The cause: to donate the dresses to agencies serving under-privileged teens so they may go to prom.
I partnered with SCAD's Jason Bunin and EDL's Karron English to produce the dresses and though we had our challenges with sequins and beads, at the end, all dresses sparkled with glamour.
Authentic Beauty, The Green Room Agency and Mint Salon, out did themselves giving us the most spectacular hair and make up on the runway.
Event Host, 97.1fm The River's Kaedy Keily was a sensational emcee and Miss Georgia Christina McCauley granted her support on the runway and to the cause.
Atlanta deejay, internationally renown Vicki Powell proved why she's the best. The pre-show and runway music was on point. Its always a good sign when the deejay is having a good time.
If a prom queen had been crowned, then undeniably, the title would have gone to For the Kid In All of Us Board member, Brigid Scarbrough. She was my partner in crime and [pretty much] the contact person for every aspect of this event.
Enjoy highlights of Project Prom in a short video feature produced by C. Mitchell for ProFasional Alliance.
