Fashionado

As an educator at Grady High School, I have been to prom for the past eight years.  For most students, especially the girls, it’s a very special night full of glamour. But for girls facing socioeconomic hardships, prom is sadly a privilege they can’t afford. When I was presented with a partnership opportunity to create an event that would raise awareness of the struggles of under-privileged students while providing prom dresses to girls in need, the decision was a no-brainer, especially because I could involved my students.

I wanted to collaborate with fashion students from other places as well, so I contacted an old friend and a new friend. Karron English of English Design Lab and Jason Bunin, SCAD Atlanta fashion faculty have been fantastic to work with on Project Prom. They are both accomplished designers with giving heart(s). (more…)
