On Saturday, December 11, Mason Murer Gallery hosted the Love Is Art Project , sponsored by Lexus, Bombay Sapphire, Blue Moon, and Warrior by New Balance, to benefit the Human Rights Campaign.
The Love Is Art exhibit showcased 20 white & black paintings, created by 20 anonymous Atlanta based couples. Each couple was given a LOVE IS ART kit, and instructed to craft their own unique masterpiece while sharing their love for each other. The twelve couples were chosen with zero barriers to race, gender, sexual preferences, age, height, culture or religion. Love Is Art founder, Jeremy Brown, and evelution media group founder, Angel Antonio Ojeda, have collaborated to create the Love Is Art Project alongside its title sponsor, Lexus Automotive North-America. The Love Is Art Project is a one-night exhibit at the Mason Murer Fine Art Gallery on Saturday, December 10, 2011 presenting twenty abstract paintings by twenty local couples carrying a powerful message: Love is a unifying force that transcends all levels and types of discrimination based on race, religion, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, heritage, nationality, age and more. *A portion of the proceeds from the Love Is Art Project will benefit and be donated to the Human Rights Campaign.
The project will also showcase photography by Russell Dreyer, music by DJ Vicki Powell and a special “love “ inspired performance by dance group gloATL.
LOVE IS ART is a kit that comes with everything two individuals need to safely make a tangible piece of abstract expressionistic art and engage in a unique bonding experience. What is left is a one-of-a-kind abstract painting that represents and records that special moment, which can then be stretched, framed and hung on the wall — a reminder of the love that was shared.
