Tuesday was a pretty amazing day. I was at the Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) midtown studios to film a testimonial for an upcoming fundraising campaign. The folks taping before me were almost done so I waited and watched from the control room along with the show’s producer. It was a wait I didn’t mind because in the studio, performing their classic hit, in a capella, were Grammy Award winners Arrested Development! I sat back and enjoyed.

Arrested Development was at GPB for the same reason I was – to film a segment for The Power of One.

The Power of One campaign will be an all day, mutli media telethon, slated for January 1st, 2011. GPB has quality programming scheduled, for all ages, throughout the day and night for this. They’ve invited a large number of notable Atlantans with affiliations to GPB to come into the studio and share their feelings/experiences about Georgia Public Broadcasting.

I’m excited to be hosting one of the entertainment portions of the campaign.

Look for me in early December as well, when I cohost a couple shows as part of GPB’s pledge drive. I’ll provide show dates and times on my facebook page closer to the show.

Production Manager, Lisa Morris helps me look "good" for my Power of One testimonial at GPB.

ahimsa-house-fashionadoIf you’re a regular fashionado visitor then you know I support many charities and you know I that have a special place in my heart for pets. I want to tell you about a very unique non-profit called Ahimsa House. They are special and unique because they not only assist the victims of domestic violence but their pets (dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, horses, etc.) as well. Many domestic abuse victims stay in their  dangerous environments out of fear that their pet will be hurt by the perpetrator!

Ahimsa House “helps humans and animals reach safety together.” (more…)

Atlanta ROCKED Ga Music

diana-degarmo-doralee-rhodes-9-to-5-musical-american-idol-fashionadoThe Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards last weekend brought together  a wide range of rock royalty – a generational range. From Diana DeGarmo’s pretty smile to the grunge style of The Black Crowes. There were Soprano singers and Soul singers. Alternative rockers and classic pianists. American Idols and legendary rockers. A little something for everyone. And this year, the awards ceremony, got a new venue and new format: more concert-like, less stuffy banquet.

Lets start with Diana DeGarmo. She was a vision in red satin. Her voice was heavenly. Earlier in the evening, we had a chat right before she walked the red carpet. Diana’s big news is that she’ll be traveling around the nation reviving Dolly Parton’s role of Doralee Rhodes in “9 to 5 the Musical.” She is so excited to be performing at the fabulous Fox Theater from September 28 through October 5th. Her mom, Brenda, is equally excited. Diana spoke with me in Doralee’s voice and nailed it! Make sure to catch the musical. I know its going to be great! (more…)
