re-Mixed

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Last spring, LUXE Atlanta boutique hosted a fashion show that featured the top designers of UrbanCouture. The runway show, titled UC re-Mixed, was held at Studio 1*FIVE*0 and was emceed by the great Leslie Fram who flew down from New York, and by yours truly. The dynamic husband and wife team that is James Adam Hill Photography documented the event from start to finish, including all the action backstage. They creatively, enthusiastically, and passionately produced an impressive video of the event which they just completed editing this week and were proud to present to me.

To set up the event for you, as it rolled out: the evening began with a reception at Luxe Atlanta which was deliciously catered by JCT Kitchen. While the crowd mingled, the models/designers were next door at Studio 1*FIVE*0 getting styled by Richie Arpino Salon. The models were accessorized with the beautiful and dramatic jewelry designs created specifically for the event by Holly Firfer. The stunning jewelry pieces added the perfect amount of sparkle to the show.

Miss Georgia Saves the World!

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

FeedtheModelsMsGAThe reigning and ever so charming, Miss Georgia USA, Kimberly Gittings, was the special guest celebrity at a charity event for the Eating Disorders Information Network, EDIN.

The benefit party titled, Feed the Models…Save the World was hosted by LUXE Atlanta boutique and catered deliciously by Livingston, Gary Mennie’s restaurant at the Georgian Terrace. Guests enjoyed great food and grooved to the latest music, spun live by DJ Jay McCracken, while they purchased their designer Feed the Models shirt with proceeds going to EDIN.

(back story in a nutshell) The Feed the Models campaign, launched locally more than two years ago by UrbanCouture (UC), Grady High School’s fashion design program, was a stylish reaction to the seriousness of eating disorders. UC’s top designers, who are high school seniors, felt passionately about creating a fundraiser for a cause that is relevant to young people and is a real problem within the fashion industry, to which they hope to be a part of someday.

LUXE carried the shirts for a limited time, though most sold! BUT it’s not too late to get yours and show support for EDIN. Visit www.myedin.org and you too can ‘save the world’!

EDIN’s Mission & Vision: The Eating Disorders Information Network (EDIN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, compulsive overeating and other forms of disordered eating, through education, outreach and action.
EDIN is committed to addressing the problem of eating disorders on a societal level.   We are devoted to preventing eating disorders, increasing public awareness of the personal, familial, and cultural/media pressures which contribute to eating disorders, and helping those already suffering to find the therapeutic services they need.  The organization strives to serve as a comprehensive resource and educational guide for those wanting to learn more about eating disorders and for those seeking help, gathering and distributing information about available treatment options both in the Atlanta area and nationwide.
