Ok… its not what you’re thinking!
Join Grace Lee, James Brashears III and 28 “passionate” Atlantans at what is sure to be one of the hottest parties of the year. We are celebrating the launching of Grace Lee’s restaurant review website, AtlantaGspots.com
For every day in February, Grace has featured a local hero/celebrity on Atlanta Gspots with an interview about their passion(s). February was the logical choice for the ambitious venture as it is the month of love. The interviews offer insightful, sometimes profound information about some very special people in our community. I am thrilled to say I was day five of passion!
Grace partnered with James Brashears’ organization, Corporate Code, a non-profit that prepares displaced men for the work force. The launch party on the 28th now has a dual purpose.
I had a chance to sit down with Grace and James and chat about the launch party, Atlanta Gspots and Corporate Code.
fashionado: Firstly, what is Gspots?
AGspots: It is Grace’s spots. My background is in real estate but everyone knew me for my appetite. I love food and even from childhood my mother would say that when I ate I made it look so delicious. I got to a point in my life that I always have to be pushed and challenged. One night after dinner, I was still feeling hungry a bit later and for as much as I eat out, I couldn’t think of a restaurant. That night I stayed up and made a spread sheet listing the name of the restaurant the type of food and the cost. The sun came up and I had 500 restaurants. I thought, other people can use this. Atlanta Gspots is me following my love for food and my passions.
fashionado: You couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate month to launch Atlanta Gspots and it’s “days of passion”.
AGspots: That was divine timing. I didn’t plan for it.
fashionado: Talk to me about the 28 days of passion interviews. Where did this concept come from?
AGspots: We picked the date of the 28th of Feb for the launch party and sitting in traffic one day and thinking passion, passion. Valentine’s Day, love… so that took me to 28 days of passion and everyday we’ll choose a different person to highlight. A whole month of passion and love. Something good came out of Atlanta traffic!

fashionado: Why did you involve Corporate Code?
AGspots: We wanted to highlight and support someone doing great things for the community. So to tie in Corporate Code’s part with this event, Atlanta Gspots is going to provide a feeding for the men who James works with n his program.
The launch party on Sunday will host a number of the interviewed celebs; feature nibbles from numerous restaurants; Grey Goose will keep our lips wet; a raffle in support of Corporate Code and music by DJ Andre Perry. RSVP is Required.
James Brashears III, Corporate Code founder & director and day #8 of Passion shares his feelings about the collaborative event:
“We have individuals in our community in need of services, support and assistance. There are people living with devastation day in day out right here in Atlanta. At first I was a little apprehensive about involvement because we needed a definitive tie in and the feeding was it.”
A little something about Corporate Code: Corporate Code is designed to expand the participation and leadership of displaced men in our community – the homeless, formerly incarcerated, and/or unemployed. The goal is to help them gain economic independence by providing interview-appropriate clothing and career counseling. By building self-confidence, Corporate Code strives to ease the transition to gainful employment.
